Today we’d like to introduce you to Floridon Frangu.
Hi Floridon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial side to me. Over the years, I’ve started businesses, tried different ideas, learned a lot through both successes and failures, and honestly just kept going. I don’t think my story is one of having everything perfectly figured out. It’s really been about being willing to take chances, work hard, learn as I go, and trust God with what comes next.
My wife, Amanda, and I lived in the Austin area for many years, and the home that is now Evergreen Dwellings was actually our family home in Kyle for about eight years. When we moved to Tennessee, we decided to keep the house rather than sell it. At the time, we didn’t fully know what that decision would eventually become, but looking back, we’re incredibly grateful we held onto it.
Eventually, the idea of turning the home into a short-term rental started becoming more serious. What began as an investment opportunity quickly became something much bigger to us. Because we had actually lived there, raised our family there, and knew the area so well, we had a unique opportunity to create something that felt personal rather than just purchasing a property and turning it into a rental.
That became Evergreen Dwellings.
Getting it launched has been extremely hands-on. I’ve been involved in everything from furnishing and repairs to technology, guest experience, branding, marketing, pricing, systems, and all the little details that most people will probably never see. There have definitely been stressful moments and a lot of learning along the way, but seeing the first reservations come in and watching something that started as an idea become a real business has been incredibly rewarding.
Hospitality has also taken on a deeper meaning for our family. Through Evergreen Dwellings, we’re building a business, but we also want to use what we have to serve people well. One part of that vision is creating opportunities for pastors and missionaries to receive complimentary respite stays throughout the year. Our faith is a huge part of how we look at business, and we believe that what we’ve been given should ultimately be used for more than just ourselves.
Today, we’re still very much in the building stage. Evergreen Dwellings is just getting started, and I have a much bigger vision for where it can eventually go. I’m grateful for what we’ve built so far, but more than anything, I’m excited about what’s ahead.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! Like most entrepreneurial journeys, there have been plenty of challenges along the way.
One of the biggest has been the financial side. Turning a former family home into a short-term rental required a significant investment upfront, and there was definitely pressure knowing we were carrying the expenses of the property while trying to get everything ready and booked as quickly as possible.
There were also plenty of logistical challenges. We now live in Tennessee, so preparing and managing a property in Texas meant a lot of planning, travel, long days, problem-solving, and learning new systems as we went. I’ve had to become familiar with everything from pricing and guest communication to smart locks, cleaning operations, marketing, and the countless little details that come with hospitality.
There have also been moments of doubt and frustration, especially when things didn’t move as quickly or smoothly as I wanted them to. But those moments have probably taught me the most. I’ve learned to stay flexible, keep moving forward, and trust that every challenge is part of building something worthwhile.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Professionally, I currently work as a project manager, where a lot of what I do involves organization, problem-solving, managing moving pieces, and helping projects move from an idea to completion. Those skills have carried over naturally into entrepreneurship and into building Evergreen Dwellings.
Outside of my professional career, much of my focus today is on growing Evergreen Dwellings and creating a hospitality brand that feels thoughtful, personal, and professionally run.
I’m very hands-on with the business, from branding and marketing to guest communication, automation, property operations, and the overall guest experience. I tend to pay close attention to the small details because I believe those are often what people remember most.
What I’m most proud of is that we’re building something that goes beyond simply renting out a house. We want guests to genuinely feel cared for, while also using the business as an opportunity to serve others through hospitality.
What sets us apart is how personal it is. This was our family home, we have deep connections to the Austin area, and we’re building Evergreen with a long-term vision rather than simply chasing bookings. I’m always looking for ways to improve the experience and build something meaningful that can continue to grow.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Without question, the two biggest are Jesus and my wife, Amanda.
My faith is at the center of everything I do. There have been plenty of moments throughout my entrepreneurial journey when I didn’t know exactly how things were going to work out, but I’ve continued to trust God, pray through decisions, and believe that He has a purpose for the opportunities we’ve been given. Any success I have ultimately belongs to Him.
And then there’s Amanda. She has supported me through the ideas, risks, long days, stressful moments, and all the times my entrepreneurial brain has come up with “one more idea.” She believes in me, keeps me grounded, and is an important part of everything we’re building with Evergreen Dwellings.
I genuinely wouldn’t want to build any of this without her.
