Hidden Gems: Meet Erin Vyhanek of Live Organized by Erin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Vyhanek.

Hi Erin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Live Organized by Erin somewhat accidentally. When my third child started kindergarten in the fall of 2022, I suddenly had a little more space in my days for the first time in years. I found myself helping friends with their homes, figuring out why certain spaces weren’t working and creating systems that made everyday life easier. When people started asking to pay me to do it, I realized there might actually be a business there.

The funny part is that I wasn’t always organized. I was actually a pretty messy kid, which my mom still loves to tell people. It wasn’t until college, and especially after becoming a mom, that I realized how much easier life could feel when there were simple systems in place.

As the business grew, I also realized that professional organizing was about so much more than making a space look beautiful. I’ve seen firsthand how much stress a home can create when it isn’t functioning well, and how much relief people feel when it finally does. That’s really what drives the way we work today.

Live Organized by Erin has grown into a full-service organizing company serving busy households throughout Austin. We create thoughtful systems based on how our clients actually live, not how a space is “supposed” to look. We also work alongside interior designers and custom builders and have grown a team that approaches every home intentionally and without judgment.

I’m still learning and building as I go, but the heart of the business hasn’t changed. I want our clients to walk away with more than a beautifully organized space. I want their homes to feel easier to live in and give them more time and energy for the things that actually matter.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, although I feel very fortunate that the business has grown steadily. One of the biggest challenges has simply been learning how to run a business while also doing the work that made me want to start one in the first place.

I didn’t come into this with a business background or a perfectly mapped-out plan. I’ve had to learn everything from pricing and contracts to marketing, hiring, managing a team and creating processes that allow us to take on larger projects. There have definitely been plenty of moments where I’ve learned something because I did it the wrong way first.

Growth has also meant learning to let go of some control. In the beginning, I did everything myself. As we’ve grown, I’ve had to learn how to delegate and build a team I trust while still making sure every client receives the level of service I want associated with Live Organized by Erin. That’s been a learning curve, but it’s also been one of the most rewarding parts of growing the business.

Another challenge is balancing entrepreneurship with raising three kids and having a life outside of work. Owning a business gives you flexibility, but it can also mean there’s always something you *could* be doing. I’m still learning where those boundaries need to be.

I don’t think I’ve reached a point where I feel like I have everything figured out, and I’m not sure business owners ever really do. Each stage of growth seems to bring a new challenge, but I’ve become much more comfortable figuring things out as I go.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Live Organized by Erin?
Live Organized by Erin is a full-service professional organizing company serving Austin and the surrounding areas. We help busy families create beautiful, functional homes with systems that make everyday life easier.

Our work ranges from kitchens, pantries, closets and playrooms to whole-home organization, moves and relocations. We can step in for a single space or manage a much larger project from planning and product sourcing through installation and the final details.

What sets us apart is that we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all organizing. Before we start thinking about products or labels, we want to understand how a client actually uses their home, what’s frustrating them and what needs to function differently. Then we build systems around their routines. The end result should look beautiful, but more importantly, it needs to be realistic to maintain.

We’re also very conscious of the fact that inviting someone into your home to organize can feel vulnerable. There is never judgment about how a space got to where it is. Our job is to meet clients where they are, make the process feel manageable and take as much of the mental load off of them as possible.

I’m especially proud that we’ve grown into a team and that so much of our business comes from repeat clients and referrals. Having someone invite us back into their home for another project, or trust us enough to recommend us to a friend, means a lot to me.

At the end of the day, we’re not just organizing things. We’re trying to create homes that support the people living in them. Our tagline is “Busy lives. Beautiful homes.” and I think that sums up Live Organized by Erin pretty perfectly.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The best way to work with us is to reach out through our website and schedule a discovery call. Whether someone has one space that isn’t working, is ready to tackle several areas of their home, or is preparing for a move, we can talk through what they need and determine how our team can help.

I also love collaborating with other professionals in the Austin area. We work alongside interior designers, custom closet companies, builders and other home professionals to make sure the organizational side of a project is considered along with the design. I think the best projects happen when everyone brings their expertise to the table.

And, of course, referrals and word of mouth are incredibly meaningful to a small business. Sharing our work, recommending us to a friend or simply following along and supporting us online all make a difference.
