Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Cohn.
Hi Jessica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into holistic health and wellness has really been a process of learning, experiencing, and becoming more intentional about how I care for my own health and the health of others.
I became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner because I wanted to understand the body beyond simply treating individual symptoms. I became fascinated by the connections between digestion, nutrition, stress, inflammation, detoxification, and overall wellness. The more I learned, the more I realized how important it is to look at the body as a whole rather than viewing each symptom as an isolated problem.
That eventually led me to Living Health Holistic in New Braunfels. The business was already an established wellness space with a strong reputation in the community, so I wasn’t starting completely from scratch. What drew me to it was the opportunity to take something that was already meaningful to people and build upon it. I saw so much potential to expand the services, education, and whole-body approach while still honoring what had already been created.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to step into an established business while also creating my own vision for where I want to take it. There is a lot that happens behind the scenes that people don’t necessarily see: managing finances, continuing education, building systems, marketing, hiring and training, and making decisions that affect both the business and the people who trust us with their health.
There have also been moments when I’ve questioned whether I was taking on too much. Being a business owner requires you to constantly wear different hats, and there isn’t always a clear roadmap. I’ve had to become comfortable with figuring things out as I go, asking questions, seeking out professionals when I need guidance, and being willing to change course when something isn’t working.
Another challenge has been learning that growth doesn’t happen overnight. Building trust within a community takes time. You can have an incredible service and genuinely want to help people, but you still have to communicate your value, educate people about what you do, and build relationships.
If anything, the challenges have made me more intentional about the kind of business I want to build. They’ve taught me to slow down when I need to, keep learning, and not compare my journey to someone else’s. Every obstacle has ultimately pushed me to become a better business owner and a better practitioner.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Living Health Holistic?
Living Health Holistic is a whole-body wellness practice in New Braunfels, Texas, focused on helping people better understand and support their bodies through a combination of therapeutic services, nutritional education, and individualized wellness strategies.
Our philosophy is rooted in looking at the body as a whole. Rather than focusing on one symptom in isolation, we look at how different systems of the body can influence one another, particularly digestion, elimination, circulation, lymphatic flow, nutrition, and the body’s ability to regulate and recover.
We specialize in services such as closed-system colon hydrotherapy, electro-lymphatic therapy, nutritional therapy, autonomic response testing (ART), and other wellness services and assessments. We also offer testing and nutritional support to help clients become more informed about what may be happening within their bodies and make more educated decisions about their health.
One thing that sets us apart is that we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every person who walks through our door has a different history, lifestyle, concerns, and goals. Our role is to listen, educate, and help clients develop a more personalized approach to supporting their health.
I’m particularly proud of the direction we’ve taken the Living Health Holistic brand. I want it to be a place where people don’t feel judged or dismissed when they’re struggling with their health. I want clients to feel heard and leave with a better understanding of their bodies and practical tools they can actually use.
I’m also proud that we’re continuing to grow beyond simply providing individual services. Education is a huge part of our brand. My goal is for clients to understand why we’re recommending something and to become more confident advocates for their own health.
Ultimately, I don’t want Living Health Holistic to be known simply as a place where you come for a particular treatment. I want us to be known as a trusted wellness resource in our community, a place where people can come to learn, ask questions, receive individualized support, and take meaningful steps toward better health.
We’re still growing and evolving, and that’s exciting to me. I have a long-term vision for expanding our testing, education, and wellness offerings while continuing to maintain the personalized, relationship-based experience that makes a small business special.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m a lifelong learner, so I’m constantly reading, listening, taking courses, and looking for new information that can expand the way I think about health and wellness. I love anything educational, especially when it challenges me to look at health from a different perspective.
I listen to a lot of podcasts, particularly conversations around longevity, nutrition, functional health, neuroscience, human performance, and the future of healthcare. I enjoy hearing from researchers, physicians, and other experts who are exploring how we can not only live longer, but live better and maintain our healthspan as we age.
I’m also drawn to books and resources around personal development and mindset. I believe that becoming healthier isn’t just about what we eat or what supplements we take. Our mindset, relationships, stress, sleep, environment, movement, and emotional well-being all play a role.
Professionally, I’m always taking continuing education courses and researching new areas of holistic and functional wellness. I genuinely enjoy going down a research rabbit hole when I discover a topic that interests me. There is so much emerging in the fields of longevity, personalized health, testing, nervous-system regulation, and preventative wellness, and I want to continue learning as those fields evolve.
One thing I try to remind myself, and my clients, is that we should stay curious but also stay discerning. There is an incredible amount of health information available today, but not everything we hear online is accurate or applicable to everyone. I like to learn from many different perspectives, look at the evidence, and then think about how that information can be applied thoughtfully and individually.
For me, learning is a huge part of both personal growth and being a good practitioner. I never want to feel like I’ve “arrived” or know everything. The more I learn, the more I realize how much there still is to discover.
