Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Mac.
Hi Tony, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started with a simple belief: that music is the heartbeat of a community. For me, Tony Mac, the journey to becoming “The People’s DJ” wasn’t just about playing tracks; it was about curating moments that bring people together.
My passion for music began in a makeshift home studio, where Ive obsessed over the craft andmastering the perfect vibe. But I quickly realized that the magic happens when you step out from behind the console and connect directly with the crowd. Whether it’s the raw energy of trap, the nostalgia of old-school R&B, or the storytelling of Southern soul, I learned that a great DJ is a bridge between the artist’s vision and the listener’s soul.
Over the years, i built CMG Publishing and Holding and expanded into event production across Texas, my mission remained the same: to create spaces—from high-energy showcases in Killeen to major festival stages in Austin and across Texas—where every person feels seen, heard, and celebrated. And I use this platform I’ve built to for the purposes of the fortification and enrichment of our next generation of music entertainers. Today, as both a DJ and an executive, I’m still driven by that same initial spark: the joy of watching a room come alive when the right song hits at the right time, creating these special moments with our next generation!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been smooth. There has been challenges. The number one challenge being that most artists have little to no knowledge of the business.
I’ve spent my time working to educate independent artists and create fortitude among them.
I’ve used many tools to promote artists including my own radio station Con Radio KKUU which was shut down due to violations with fcc.
Today, I’ve developed a statewide platform based on my strength as a dj and promoter.
I ve become quite popular in Texas and I now used that platform to drive new artists to success
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself somewhat of an Entertainment Innovator. My work isn’t static. I am constantly pushing the culture forward by integrating interactive elements—such as live competitions, community markets, and networking showcases—that transform the norm from the standard club night, into dynamic, value-driven cultural events that provide resluts. In turn, these events have become a viable tool for independent artists in breaking their careers.
As a producer, DJ, and executive at CMG Publishing and Holding, I bridge the gap between high-level industry standards and local authenticity, providing a platform for emerging talent while delivering top-tier service to every artist I work with.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people don’t know that I work with and take advice from some of the biggest names in the business.
My influences include platinum artists like SvpaStar and Bone the Mack. I have worked with closely with legends like Lil Flip and J Dawg. I’ve placed artists in shows with the likes of Myk Fresh and Lil Boosie. My network of djs expands across the state of Texas with legends such as DJ Big Mix from the original Swishahouse and my mentor is Best friend to the late great Dj Micheal 5000 Watts.
I’m quiet about the moves I make and the people I know because I want the work to speak for itself.
