Hi James, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I did not start Love Tech Lab because I love AI. I started it because I have watched too many good people risk everything to follow a dream and lose it.
Not because they were not good at what they do. Because small business comes down to two brutal realities. You never have enough time, and you never have enough money.
Owners are drowning trying to do the work and answer the phone at the same time. And every missed call is money walking out the door.
That crushes people. It crushes families.
So we made a choice. If we could build software that answers every call and text that would normally go unanswered, we solve both problems at once. We give them their time back, and we stop the bleeding on lost revenue.
We started with our Communication Agent for that exact reason. To protect the two things an owner can never get enough of. Time and money.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest obstacle was focus.
When you are building AI, you can build anything. Everyone has an idea for what you should add next. It is easy to chase all of it.
But small business owners do not need more features. They need more time and more money. If what we were building did not directly save time or make money that day, it was a distraction.
So we said no to a lot of good ideas. We said yes to one thing. Answer every call. Answer every text. Capture every lead. Book the job.
Building that one thing right, on a small business budget, while working full time, was the hardest thing I have ever done. But it forced us to be practical. We could not afford to build a science project. We had to build something that works in the real world, for real owners, on day one.
That discipline is what got us here.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
For a long time, AI was something you had to manage. You typed, it answered. That still takes your time.
The shift now is AI that actually does the work. It answers the call, sends the text, books the job, follows up. Without you having to watch it.
That matters for small business because big companies have always had a team to do that. Small businesses have never had the time or money for a full time staff.
Now they can have that speed and coverage without the payroll. In the next few years, the businesses that win will not be the ones with the fanciest tech. They will be the ones who answer the fastest and never let a lead slip away. Because for small business, speed is money.
