Rising Stars: Meet Malisa Archer of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malisa Archer.

Hi Malisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2018 I came to a crossroads. I felt the need to do something more impactful and more rewarding . I wanted to give back and help people. I needed purpose in my life. After taking inventory of all the skills that I’ve learned in this lifetime so far. ( a degree in interior design, carpenters apprentice , a life time of figuring things out and making it work, visiting my grandmother in the summers and helping her polish the house, iron all her clothes, pull weeds and help in the garden etc. I decided to become a Handy Ma’am. At first I started by cleaning people’s homes for about a year. That progressed into helping people fix things , as well as landscaping jobs to now a full on Handy Ma’am.
Helping people is the main goal. I guess you can say that the thing that makes Handy Ma’am Services different is that it’s my craft, it’s my purpose. I love the response of my clients. They are happy , which carries on and makes their spouse happy and then the kids are happy followed by their friends etc. This is how I spread joy to the world. Your home is your safe space and I’m so blessed to be able to be apart of that creation.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Each job has its own obstacles and challenges. There’s a balance in everything that you do. I find that if I don’t have an obstacle or a challenge, then somethings wrong. Let’s be honest there’s no such thing as a square home. Each home is built differently therefore each task, even though the same at times is done differently. Which brings its own challenges. The best part is problem-solving ,getting the job done and my clients happy face in the end.
I’m not gonna lie sometimes I’m terrified on not knowing how to fix an issue or lay the perfect flooring or patch the perfect wall. But it always comes out good in the end. I’d like to think it’s because I turn to Jesus. He was a carpenter, and I try to channel him and his skills and hope that he guides me through the hard projects. I can honestly say that he does and every time it always works out perfectly.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What do I do? Well, I guess if you want to sum it up, I’m a Handy Ma’am. No matter how big or small the task, we’re happy to help you get it done.

I’d like to think that I am known for my attention to detail and hyper vigilance. As well as my honesty, my craftsmanship and the ability to get the job done properly.

What am I most proud of? I guess I could say that I am proud of myself and the ability to build this business , keep it going and do a good job. I hit rock bottom before I decided to start this business. I wanted a better life for myself. I didn’t want the life that I was living so I sobered up flipped my life around and now I’m thriving.
I can’t really say what sets me apart from others. We all have our own way of doing things, we all have different intentions and want different outcomes. For some people it’s just a 9-to-5 job so they can pay the bills . For me it’s a calling. I just wanna help people I wanna give back to humanity and this is how I was chosen to do it.

How do you think about happiness?
Helping people makes me happy. I get great pleasure, knowing that I was able to make someone’s day better just by being helpful.
When I’m not working, I’m hanging out with my chickens. They’re my little farm fairies and they bring me so much joy. I also play the drums in Heather Webbs Jamroom.
I am also studying QHHT (quantum healing hypnosis technique) . It’s just another way to help people..
