Today we’d like to introduce you to Abiodun Alli.
Hi Abiodun, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey in music started when I was 16 years old. It began simply with passion. I loved music and felt a strong connection to writing, creating and expressing myself through it. As I grew older, that passion developed into something I wanted to take seriously, and that’s how I began building my identity as Goal Digga.
As an independent Nigerian artist and songwriter, I’ve been developing my sound through Hip-Hop, Afrobeat and Afrorap, while using my music to tell stories, express emotions and connect with people. Every song has its own energy and message, and I want listeners to be able to find something they can relate to.
One of the biggest challenges has been figuring out how to get noticed in such a competitive music industry. Making good music is one thing, but getting people to discover it, listen to it and eventually become genuine fans is another challenge entirely. As an independent artist, I’ve had to learn how to promote my music, build my audience, create content and consistently put myself out there.
That experience has taught me that building a music career is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to keep creating, learning, improving and finding new ways to connect with people.
Today, I’m still passionate about growing as an artist and reaching more listeners both in Nigeria and internationally. My goal is to build a lasting career around my music, connect with people through my stories and create something that people can remember. I’m still on the journey, and I believe the best part of the story is still ahead.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been because one of the biggest challenges has been figuring out how to get noticed in such a competitive music industry.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an independent Nigerian artist and songwriter known as Goal Digga. I specialize in Hip-Hop, Rap, Afrobeat and Afrorap, blending lyricism, African influences and different sounds to create music that connects with people and tells a story.
What I enjoy most about being an artist is the freedom to turn my experiences, emotions and observations into music. Whether I’m making a hard-hitting rap record, an Afrobeat song or something more romantic and melodic, I always want the music to have personality and give listeners something they can connect with.
One thing I’m most proud of is the fact that I’ve continued building my career independently. It takes a lot of consistency and belief to keep creating and promoting your work when you’re still working to get noticed and grow your audience. I’m proud of every song, project and connection I’ve built along the way.
What sets me apart is my versatility and my approach to storytelling, fashion. I don’t want to put myself in one box creatively. I can move between rap, Afrobeat and Afrorap while still maintaining my identity as Goal Digga. My goal is to create music that represents where I come from while also being able to connect with listeners anywhere in the world.
How do you think about happiness?
Creating music makes me happy, especially when I see people connect with something I created. I also find happiness in the people close to me, enjoying life and seeing progress in the things I work hard for. For me, happiness is not always about big achievements; sometimes it’s simply knowing that I’m growing, creating and moving forward.
