Today we’d like to introduce you to Leila Torres.
Hi Leila, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a natural love and passion for music. I started singing before I could even talk and loved dancing and putting on little performances for my family. When I was two years old my mom took me to the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, and I truly believe that experience helped spark something special in me. From that moment on, my love for music and performing continued to grow.
As I got older, I became especially interested in mixing music and DJing. I spend countless hours listening to different songs, experimenting with beats, and finding the perfect combinations of music for my dance group. What started as a little girl singing and dancing for my family has grown into a genuine passion and talent for music.
Music has always been a part of who I am, and turning that childhood love into something creative and meaningful has been incredibly special to me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I won’t say my road has been particularly bumpy. I did have a few auditions that I didn’t get picked for, which was a little disappointing, but I didn’t let it get me down. My mom trying to keep up with my talent needs financially was often a struggle for her as a single parent. That being said no matter what the situation was we always managed to keep my pursuit of music and dancing going and I have always had an amazing support group.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love to dance and create music, especially collaborating with others and bringing different sounds together. I feel like I’m best known for putting together funky beats and original mixes that my team can perform to. I love experimenting with different songs and beats to create something that feels fresh and unique.
I also think one of my strengths is my performance. I bring big energy, confidence, and charisma to every routine, and I love making sure my personality shines through when I dance. For me, music and dance go hand in hand, and there’s nothing better than creating something original and then bringing it to life on stage with my team.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I honestly see myself continuing to pursue my dream of music and dance as I grow older. My goal is to work in the entertainment industry as an adult, combining my love for music, dance, choreography, and creativity. I would love the opportunity to travel, experience different cultures, and see the world while doing something I truly love.
Whether my future takes me toward becoming a professional dancer, DJ, choreographer, or working behind the scenes creating music, I know I want to build a career in this field. I want to continue learning, creating, performing, and finding new ways to bring music and dance together.
