Today we’d like to introduce you to Shon Hyneman.
Hi Shon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started with a genuine heart to serve people in the area of relationships. Even when I was younger, I was fascinated by healthy love and what it looked like to build a lasting relationship. When I was around 20 or 21, I witnessed my pastor and his wife in Cleveland and saw a healthy example of love that showed me it was actually possible. That experience shaped how I viewed love, grace, mercy, and commitment.
Later in life, I experienced divorce myself. Divorce was one of the biggest fears I had, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how I was going to get through it. But I did. That experience changed me. I learned the importance of extending grace, being consistent, establishing healthy boundaries, and becoming secure in who I am.
My divorce also opened my eyes to something I felt was missing. There were resources for people going through divorce, but I didn’t see enough focused on helping divorced people heal, grow, and eventually love again without repeating the same mistakes.
That’s where my calling became clear. I realized that my experience could become a tool God could use to help someone else. Today, through It’s Scary To Remarry, I help divorced Christian men and women change the way they think about love after divorce, heal from what they’ve experienced, and learn how to approach future relationships with greater intention, wisdom, and faith.
What started as my own painful experience became a purpose. I now believe that divorce can be part of your story without being the end of your story.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles was going through my own divorce. Divorce was one of my greatest fears, and there was a point where I wasn’t sure what life was going to look like afterward. I had to learn how to heal while also figuring out who I was becoming.
Another challenge was learning that wanting love again doesn’t mean you’re automatically ready for another relationship. I had to become more intentional about grace, consistency, communication, boundaries, and taking responsibility for my own growth.
Building my platform and turning my personal experience into a purpose has also come with its own challenges. There have been moments of uncertainty, but I’ve learned not to let difficult seasons convince me that I’ve missed God’s purpose for my life.
Looking back, I wouldn’t call the road easy, but I can say it has been meaningful. Some of the hardest parts of my journey are the very experiences that gave me the compassion and perspective to help other divorced people believe they can heal and love again without repeating the same mistakes.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
It’s Scary To Remarry is a faith-based relationship platform created to help divorced Christian men and women heal, grow, and learn how to love again without repeating the same mistakes.
My work focuses on what happens after the divorce. A lot of conversations focus on surviving the divorce, but I believe there also needs to be a conversation about what comes next. How do you rebuild your confidence? How do you heal from what happened? How do you recognize unhealthy patterns? How do you date again? How do you know when you’re actually ready for love? And how do you approach a future relationship differently?
I specialize in helping people become more intentional about love after divorce. Through my content, coaching, books, workbooks, podcast, YouTube channel, and other resources, I help people examine the lessons from their past relationships so they don’t carry the same unresolved issues into their next one.
What sets It’s Scary To Remarry apart is that the message isn’t simply “get back out there and find someone.” I believe healing and preparation matter. My approach combines real-life experience, relationship education, faith, accountability, and practical tools to help people approach love from a healthier place.
I’m also very intentional about keeping God and biblical principles at the center of the brand. I don’t believe you have to choose between faith and practical relationship guidance. Both can be part of the conversation.
What I’m most proud of is the community and trust we’ve built around this message. I started with my own experience of divorce and the realization that there weren’t enough resources helping divorced people who still desired love. What was once one of the most painful experiences of my life became the foundation for a purpose.
Today, It’s Scary To Remarry is about changing the narrative around love after divorce. Divorce doesn’t have to mean you stop believing in love. It can be an opportunity to become wiser, healthier, more intentional, and better prepared for the love you’re praying for.
The brand offers educational content, coaching, books and workbooks, podcasts, YouTube content, and resources designed to help people navigate life and love after divorce. Ultimately, I want people to know that your past relationship can teach you without defining you, and your divorce can be part of your story without being the end of your story.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that you can’t build a healthy future relationship without being willing to take an honest look at yourself and heal from your past.
My divorce taught me that love requires more than feelings. It requires grace, consistency, accountability, communication, and healthy boundaries. I had to learn that I couldn’t control another person’s choices, but I could take responsibility for my own growth and the way I showed up in relationships.
I’ve also learned that pain doesn’t have to be wasted. One of the hardest experiences of my life became the foundation for my purpose. Going through divorce helped me recognize how many people were struggling with the same questions I was asking: “Can I love again? Can I trust again? Am I capable of having a healthy relationship after what I’ve experienced?”
That experience taught me to trust God with my story. What I once saw as an ending, God helped me see as part of my preparation for something greater.
Today, the lesson I try to pass on is simple: don’t rush into another relationship just because you’re lonely, and don’t let your divorce convince you that love is no longer possible. Take the time to heal, learn, grow, and become intentional about the person you’re becoming. Then, when love comes again, you’ll be better prepared to recognize it, receive it, and build something healthier.
