Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Zeeb.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always painted but really started to take it seriously during COVID when there was nothing else to distract me. Soon my friends saw my work and wanted some pieces and it just snowballed from there.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been the highest highs and lowest lows of my life. Paying rent alone as a single person in Austin is next to impossible. Trying to keep up with my friends in tech sale jobs, trying to see all the concerts and hit all the great happy hours. It is not possible to do these things and be a full time artist. I have had to work random jobs as a barista, dam inspector, and bartender. I have had to sell my golf clubs and Harry Potter signed glasses. I have had to give up a lot to be an artist. It is very difficult. The lowest low was when I got poison ivy on my legs without health insurance. I then had to get the dam inspector job to pay for that.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an acrylic painter who uses thick black lines and then fill it in with moving color. I have done murals but mostly only original works. I have painted a piece titled Library Stairs which shows the Central Library in Austin’s staircase in colors.
