Daily Inspiration: Meet Lizbeth Mejorado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lizbeth Mejorado.

Hi Lizbeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Lizbeth Mejorado, and my story started long before I ever imagined building a career in the beauty industry.

I came to the United States from Mexico as a child, and I grew up as one of the youngest of six sisters. Being surrounded by so many women, beauty, makeup, and getting ready was always part of my environment. I think that’s where my curiosity and love for beauty first began.

But my path wasn’t a straight one. Before becoming a professional makeup artist, I cleaned houses for 10 years. I worked hard while building my life and raising my family, and eventually I decided to pursue something I had always been passionate about: makeup.

That decision completely changed the direction of my life.

I entered the beauty industry more than 18 years ago, eventually building my own business and specializing in bridal beauty. More than 10 years ago, I also became the first to open a Spanish-language makeup school in Austin, Texas. Through that school, I discovered how much I loved not only teaching women a skill, but helping them see what they were capable of creating for themselves.

That became the beginning of something much bigger for me.

Over the years, my work evolved from beauty and education into creating experiences and retreats focused on women’s personal development. Today, I continue that mission through Glow Up Mujer, my digital community where I bring women together to grow, learn, and work on different areas of their lives.

I’m also a single mother of two teenagers, so much of what I have built has happened while navigating motherhood, entrepreneurship, challenges, and many seasons of starting over.

Beauty opened the first door for me, but empowering women has become one of the most meaningful parts of my journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles in my life happened right before and during the pandemic.

Before the pandemic, I went through a health scare after receiving a concerning diagnosis. At that point in my life, I wasn’t really prioritizing my health. I was constantly working, building my business, and taking care of everyone and everything around me. I didn’t understand the importance of managing stress, slowing down, or taking care of myself mentally and physically.

That experience became a major turning point for me.

Then the pandemic happened, and I experienced another kind of loss. I had built one of my biggest dreams—a large, beautiful beauty studio and business that I had worked extremely hard to create. I eventually had to close it, downsize, and let go of so much of what I had built.

It was difficult because I felt like I was starting over. But that season forced me to redefine what success meant to me.

I had to rebuild myself before I could rebuild my business. I started prioritizing my health, my family, my peace, and the things that truly mattered.

That experience taught me something I still carry with me today: we can always rebuild. Businesses can change, plans can change, and sometimes we have to start over—but when we take care of ourselves and stay grounded in what truly matters, we can get back up, create new dreams, and continue moving forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Today, my work lives at the intersection of beauty, education, and women’s empowerment.

As a professional makeup artist, I specialize in bridal beauty and have spent years working with women from different cultures, backgrounds, and styles. I love creating elevated, long-lasting looks while still making my clients feel like themselves.

But my career today goes far beyond working behind the makeup chair. A big part of what I do is teach and mentor other women in the beauty industry. I help makeup artists develop their skills, understand the business side of the industry, build their personal brands, create content, and learn how to turn their talent into a sustainable career.

I’m also passionate about creating spaces where women can grow beyond their profession. Through my digital community, events, and educational experiences, I bring together conversations around confidence, personal development, beauty, wellness, entrepreneurship, and becoming more intentional about the life we want to create.

What I’m most proud of is the evolution of my career. I’ve learned how to take almost two decades of experience and continue reinventing what that experience can become.

What sets me apart is that I don’t believe women have to be only one thing. I’m an artist, an educator, a business owner, a mentor, and a community builder—and I’ve learned how to bring all of those parts together with one purpose: helping women see more possibilities for themselves.

Any big plans?
One of my biggest goals moving forward is to continue growing my digital community and use my story and experience to reach and support more women.

When I started my journey, I didn’t have a mentor or someone guiding me through the process. I had to learn so many things through experience, mistakes, and simply figuring things out along the way. Because of that, one of the things I feel most passionate about now is becoming that person for other women.

I want to share the tools, knowledge, and lessons I’ve gained over the years—not only in beauty and business, but also in personal growth, confidence, and learning how to reinvent yourself through different seasons of life.

My goal is to create a community where women feel supported, inspired, and encouraged to take action toward their own goals. If my experiences can make someone else’s journey a little easier or help another woman believe that she is capable of more, then I feel like I’m doing something meaningful with everything I’ve learned.

At the same time, success for me today is also very personal. I want to continue growing while being present for my family, spending meaningful time with my children, traveling with them, creating memories, and continuing to evolve in every area of my life.

For me, the next chapter is about impact, growth, and building a life that allows me to do both—help other women grow while continuing to grow alongside my own family.
