Today we’d like to introduce you to Dre Nuzum.
Hi Dre, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up without the stability and support that every kid deserves, which forced me to grow up quickly and learn resilience through adversity. In 2018, my life changed when I shattered my leg into seven pieces in an accident. Doctors questioned what my future would look like physically, but that setback became the catalyst for a new purpose.
Through years of rehabilitation, faith, and discipline, I not only learned to walk again…I went on to run a marathon, compete in HYROX, and pursue challenges like skydiving in all 50 states. Along the way, I realized my greatest passion wasn’t simply overcoming obstacles myself, but helping others believe they can overcome theirs.
Today, I work as a youth mentor, fitness coach, and speaker, using my story to encourage resilience, confidence, and purpose. Whether I’m coaching athletes, mentoring young people, or speaking at conferences, my mission is the same: to help people discover that their greatest setbacks can become the foundation for their greatest impact.
My life has become proof that while we can’t always choose what happens to us, we can choose what we do with it….and sometimes our hardest seasons become the very thing that equips us to help someone else.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Growing up, I experienced instability and a lack of consistent support, which made me mature quickly and taught me resilience at an early age. One of the biggest turning points came in 2018 when I shattered my leg into seven pieces. Recovery was long, physically painful, and mentally exhausting. There were moments when I questioned whether I’d ever be able to live an active life again.
Beyond the injury, building a career centered around helping others has come with its own challenges. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced financial uncertainty, self-doubt, rejection, and the pressure of creating opportunities instead of waiting for them. I’ve learned that success rarely happens overnight—it comes from showing up consistently, even when progress feels slow.
Looking back, those obstacles became my greatest teachers. They strengthened my faith, deepened my empathy, and shaped the way I coach, mentor, and speak today. I don’t believe our struggles define us, but I do believe they can prepare us to make a meaningful difference in someone else’s life.
As you know, we’re big fans of A.I.M. The coaching program . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
A.I.M. (Ambition. Inspiration. Motivation.) is more than a coaching business—it’s a movement dedicated to helping people become the best version of themselves. We combine fitness, mindset, accountability, and mentorship to help clients reach goals they once thought were out of reach.
We specialize in personalized coaching because no two journeys are the same. Whether someone is training for their first race, rebuilding confidence after a setback, improving their health, or simply looking for direction, we meet them where they are and create a plan that fits their life.
What sets A.I.M. apart is that we don’t just coach workouts—we coach people. My own journey of overcoming a life-changing injury taught me that lasting transformation starts with mindset. That philosophy shapes everything we do, from one-on-one coaching to youth mentorship and speaking engagements.
The brand is built on a simple belief: everyone has a target worth pursuing, but no one should have to chase it alone. If our clients leave stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally than when they started, then we’ve accomplished our mission. That’s what A.I.M. is all about.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was adventurous, competitive, and always looking for my next challenge. I loved being active, trying new things, and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. At the same time, I grew up in a huge family that taught me core values I still hold today, growing up made me resilient but also independent.
I’ve always been someone who enjoys encouraging others. Whether it was through sports, coaching, or simply showing up for people, I found fulfillment in helping others believe in themselves. Looking back, I think that desire came from knowing what it feels like to need someone in your corner.
Today, that same adventurous spirit still drives me. It fuels everything from competing in endurance events and skydiving across the country to mentoring young people and speaking about resilience. While my interests have evolved, the core of who I am hasn’t changed—I love challenges, I value growth, and I’m passionate about helping people realize they’re capable of more than they think.
