Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrence Mombrun.
Hi Terrence, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I moved from NYC to Austin on July 2020 to pursue acting. It was a Saturday when I told my mom I was leaving and she didn’t believe me so by the time Tuesday came I had my bags packed and I told her I was leaving and she was like “so you really want to pursue this, I was like yeah and left”. So for the next few of months I I worked for Amazon delivering packages and as I’m dropping off deliveries I was asking people if they knew about the acting scene in Austin and I would usually get answers like no or I heard the paramount theatre has things going on or try google. And this was like for two months I was hitting a dead end. So one day I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and I was upset because I had took a chance but nothing was working out. So that day my second stop was a package I delivered to an actor who is now one of my mentors(Jeff Weber). I gave him the package, he asked if I wanted something to drink I said no thank you and as I’m walking to the van, I’m in the middle of the street something told me just ask ONE MORE TIME. ONE MORE TIME. So then I turned around and said “ excuse me sir do you know if there’s any acting going on” he said” why? did you see me somewhere?” I said,” no” . He said” well yes there’s acting going on here and I’m an actor let’s contact on ig I’ll help you . I didn’t believe it at first because where I’m from strangers don’t just tell you’ll they’ll help you and keep their word. So I meet him in October and he helped me get signed to his agent December 2nd 2020 and now we’re here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it’s been ups and downs. You’ll have seasons where things are smooth and your booking then it gets dry for a long period and you’ll feel as if you’re doing something wrong but it’s not always you. Sometimes it’s just the season.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an actor. I’m proud that I’m able to leave something in the hearts of others. I understand that I have the responsibility of speaking to millions of people and speaking for millions of people. That’s what I’m proud of most to give people hope and showing them they can do or become whatever it is that their heart desires. What sets me apart from others is that I’m willing to go through the struggle for what I’m doing because I believe in myself and it that much.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Unlike other major cities there’s not six degrees of separation. Out here you can be anywhere and connect with anyone who’s doing something in life. I can’t stand the traffic
