Hidden Gems: Meet Shourya Vishwakarma of Actor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shourya Vishwakarma.

Hi Shourya , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

My journey has always been connected to creativity. I grew up in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, and from an early age I was drawn to things that allowed me to express myself—especially movies, storytelling, drawing, and visual creativity.

I started exploring video editing on my own and gradually turned it into a serious skill. Over the past few years, I have spent a lot of time learning editing, visual effects, and different creative tools through practice and experimentation. I also worked in the makeup industry, which gave me another perspective on appearance, styling, presentation, and working with people.

But somewhere along the way, I realized that I didn’t just want to work behind the scenes—I wanted to be in front of the camera too. Acting became something I genuinely wanted to pursue. I started creating content, building my presence on social media, and learning how to present myself as an actor. I created my acting-focused Instagram account, @shouryaactor, and slowly built a community of people who follow my journey. Today, I have around 30,000 followers from different parts of the world.

What makes my journey meaningful to me is that I have largely had to teach myself. I didn’t start with a big team, expensive equipment, or a traditional path into the entertainment industry. I learned by watching, practicing, making mistakes, starting again, and constantly trying to improve.

Alongside acting, I have also developed my own stories and film projects. I enjoy not only performing a character but also thinking about the world around that character—story, visuals, cinematography, VFX, and the overall experience of a film. My goal is to eventually create and act in films that allow me to combine all of these interests.

I know I still have a long way to go, but I am proud of how far I have come. For me, this journey is not about becoming successful overnight. It is about continuing to learn, taking opportunities seriously, and building something of my own step by step. I hope that one day I can look back and see that all the small efforts I made when I was starting out became the foundation of the career I dreamed about.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles / Challenges

It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been trying to build a career in the entertainment industry without having a traditional background or a large support system behind me.

I have had to learn many things on my own, from video editing and content creation to acting and understanding how the industry works. Finding the right opportunities has also been difficult. There have been auditions, projects, and opportunities that didn’t work out, and there have been moments when I questioned whether I was moving in the right direction.

Another challenge has been resources. When you are starting out, you don’t always have access to expensive cameras, professional studios, large production teams, or people who can guide you through every step. I have had to be creative with what I have and learn how to make the most of limited resources.

Balancing work, responsibilities, and my creative ambitions has also been challenging. Sometimes I have had to continue working while pursuing acting and filmmaking whenever I could find the time and energy.

But I think those challenges have also shaped me. They taught me to be patient, keep learning, and not wait for perfect circumstances before starting something. Every rejection and every difficult period has pushed me to improve rather than give up.

I still face challenges, but I no longer see them only as obstacles. I see them as part of the process of becoming the person and artist I want to be.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Actor ?

I am an actor and creative artist with a strong interest in filmmaking, storytelling, and visual creativity. My work brings together acting, video editing, visual effects, and storytelling, allowing me to explore different sides of the creative process.

I began by learning video editing and content creation independently, and over time I became increasingly interested in acting and filmmaking. Today, I am focused on developing myself as an actor while also creating and working on my own film and storytelling projects.

One thing that sets my work apart is that I don’t see myself as someone who only wants to perform in front of the camera. I am also deeply interested in what happens behind it—the story, visuals, editing, cinematography, VFX, and the overall world of a project. This gives me a broader understanding of the creative process.

I am especially proud of building my acting presence from the ground up through social media. My Instagram community, @shouryaactor, has grown to around 30,000 followers from different parts of the world, which has encouraged me to continue sharing my journey and connecting with people who enjoy my work.

My long-term goal is to establish myself as an actor and filmmaker and eventually create original films and stories that I can be proud of. I want my work to show that creativity doesn’t always require perfect circumstances—you can start with what you have, keep learning, and build something meaningful step by step.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Favorite Books, Apps or Podcasts

A lot of my learning has come from digital resources rather than traditional books. YouTube has been one of the most useful resources in my journey because I can learn about acting, filmmaking, cinematography, video editing, visual effects, and storytelling from people working in different parts of the industry.

For my creative work, I also regularly use editing and creative applications that help me experiment with ideas and turn them into something visual. Learning through these tools has taught me that creativity is often about experimenting, making mistakes, and trying again.

I also enjoy watching films and studying performances, scenes, camera work, editing, and visual effects. Movies themselves are a major source of inspiration for me. Whenever I watch something I really like, I try to understand not only the story but also why a particular scene, performance, shot, or piece of music works.

More than any single book or podcast, I think the most valuable resource for me has been the ability to keep learning. The internet has given me access to knowledge that I otherwise might not have had, and I try to use it to continuously improve my skills and develop my own creative voice.
