Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Lively.
Hi Megan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story starts with my aunt Terry Lively. She started permanent makeup services in 1997 before it was a daily option for women. She started working in a regular tattoo shop and learned on old school coil machines. I started working for her in Nov. 2021 as her office manager. As I learned more about her craft I asked if I could be trained to do permanent makeup. She started training me Jan 2022 and I fell in love with it. I already had a love of makeup and being able to make a difference in someones daily life really is amazing. I love my clients and really form a bond when they are in my chair for an hour and half. Hearing how I’ve helped them feel better about themselves or just making their daily makeup routine easier really makes my heart happy. This year has been one of growth for me. Jan. 2026 I started my training for paramedical tattooing. So now I get to help breast cancer survivors feel whole again through 3D areola restoration and scar camouflage. I’m also involved in helping new artists have the best resources available as a member of the SPCP ( Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals). They are the oldest non profit organization in the industry and we strive to keep our standards high and help regulate the laws for trainers and artists alike. To say I love what I do is truly an understatement.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth no. Life in general is always trying to get in the way and growing pains are real. The hardest part has been trying to juggle family life and work. We have a blended family and my uncle is 85 and has dementia so we all try to help my aunt out by taking care of him.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love permanent makeup brows, eyeliner and lips. But my passion is 3D areola restoration! Helping breast cancer clients is very close to my heart because my grandmother had a double mastectomy when i was little and watching her deal with that battle had a huge impact on me.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I was born and raised in Bulverde Tx, we would always go to Austin for concerts and the food. Now that I’m in my 40’s I’ve seen the growth and change thats come to our great state of Texas. Not all has been good but I still think it’s the best place to raise a family.
