Today we’d like to introduce you to John Truitt.
John, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been an animal lover. That love grew into a longing for a dog of my own — and when I finally got one, everything changed. From that first companionship, the bonds only deepened over time. Looking back, I can’t recall a single stretch of my childhood without a dog somewhere in the family.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is never smooth. It’s been a rewarding journey and one interesting one.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do it all when it comes to dogs — and I love every second of it.
By day, I’m a professional pet groomer and part-owner of a dog bakery, serving up good vibes (and good treats) to my local pet community. I host monthly mixers where pet owners come together, swap stories, and let their dogs be dogs. Showcasing the small businesses in my community is something I care deeply about — we’re stronger together.
At home, I share my life with my rescue Bulldog, Little Annie, who I take care of and adore. But my proudest accomplishments belong to my other Bulldog, IBA — better known as Fur_casso. What started as a way to bond through creativity turned into a full-blown art platform. Fur_casso’s body of work and accomplishments are what I’m most proud of in this lifetime so far, and there’s a lot more on the horizon that we’re keeping under wraps for now.
When I’m not grooming, baking, or painting with IBA, you’ll find me volunteering at local shelters, because every dog deserves the kind of second chance Little Annie got.
I’m the fur-dad to a professional Dog Artist. We create paintings using our signature painting technique called “Abstract Canine Expressionism.” I’m most proud of my Bulldog. The fact that my dog is creating brilliant pieces of art definitely sets us apart from other artists. I still don’t even know if there are any other dogs out there that paintings as a skill.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Patience is a key quality that’s important to my success. Keeping a clear mind, avoiding situations and people that trigger me in the wrong directions.
