Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Medau.
Hi Heather, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Winkstyles, a graffiti artist originally inspired by demolition and construction sites. I was drawn to the broken structures, exposed architecture, and controlled chaos. Over time, I began evolving those ideas further, combining graffiti with surreal environments, current events, and cultural history. Graffiti has given me opportunities to travel, collaborate, and constantly challenge myself mentally.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I spent about twelve years painting under an overpass in Florida, teaching myself how to paint and developing my style. During that time, I struggled with a lot of self-doubt, alcoholism, and trying to figure out who I was. What kind yof artist I wanted to be. Every big dream I had in my head seemed almost impossible during this time, but there was a single second I was ever going to give up. Eventually, I was able to move past that period and I became fully comfortable in my own skin and discovered my true identity. Struggle is the main vein of my grand journey.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Outside of graffiti, I am primarily a comic book artist. My day job is a Mechanical Engineer. I specialize in a original graffiti style that I created called “Demo”, which has become a recognizable part of my work, along with the original characters and worlds I develop.
I’m most proud of setting goals for myself that some times seemed nearly impossible, refusing to give up, and eventually achieving them. I’ve continued moving forward even when people doubted me or tried to discourage me.
What sets me apart is my drive to constantly improve and evolve. I’m never satisfied with simply repeating what I’ve already done. I want each project to push my abilities further, while still maintaing a style that is distinctly my own.

I’m always open to collaborating with other artists, brands, galleries, festivals, and creative projects. I used to have extreme social anxiety, and I’ve managed to pull myself out of that box. I’m available for murals, graffiti projects, comic and character work, commissions, and opportunities that allow me to bring my own style. The best way to support my work is to follow and share what I create, attend projects or events I’m involved in, and reach out directly if you’re interested in working together.
