Hidden Gems: Meet Leyanes Roman of Gather and Bloom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leyanes Roman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Gather & Bloom started during a really difficult time in my life. After having my baby, I went through a challenging postpartum period and was struggling to find myself again outside of being a mom. I’ve always loved flowers and creating beautiful things, so I decided to turn that passion into something of my own.

What started as a small idea became a creative outlet that gave me something to look forward to and helped me regain a sense of purpose and confidence. As I continued creating bouquets and taking on events, Gather & Bloom slowly grew into the business it is today. In many ways, building this business became part of my healing journey and reminded me that I could be both a mom and an entrepreneur.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. Starting a business while navigating motherhood and a difficult postpartum period came with a lot of challenges. There were moments of self-doubt, financial uncertainty, and times when I wondered if I was really capable of making it work.

I’ve also had to learn everything along the way—from pricing and sourcing flowers to marketing and finding customers. But every challenge has taught me something and pushed me to keep going. I’m still learning, but I’ve learned that growth doesn’t always happen quickly or perfectly. Sometimes, simply continuing to show up is the biggest accomplishment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Gather & Bloom is a floral and event experience business focused on making flowers feel personal, fun, and accessible. I offer custom bouquets, mini bouquets, floral deliveries, and a Build Your Own Bouquet experience for events, where guests can create something that reflects their own style.

What sets Gather & Bloom apart is that I’m not just focused on selling flowers—I want to create an experience around them. Whether it’s a small bouquet delivered to someone’s door or a full Bloom Bar at an event, I want people to feel like they’re part of the creative process.

I’m most proud of how much the brand has grown from such a small idea. Gather & Bloom represents creativity, connection, and finding beauty in everyday moments. I want people to know that my goal is to make flowers feel approachable and meaningful, whether you’re celebrating a big milestone or simply want to brighten someone’s day.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice is to just start, even if you don’t feel completely ready. You don’t need to have everything figured out before taking the first step. I started Gather & Bloom with a lot to learn, and I’m still learning every day.

I also wish I had known how important it is to believe in the value of what you create. Don’t be afraid to charge what your work is worth, set boundaries, and invest in yourself. Most importantly, don’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle. Growth takes time, and sometimes the smallest idea can turn into something much bigger than you imagined.
