Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Baughman.
Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always say the entrepreneurial path chose me long before I realized it.
While I was obtaining my bachelor’s degree in interior design, I took on projects through the most random and casual experiences. I’d be sitting at a baseball game talking to a friend’s dad, and the next thing I knew, I was driving to Dallas to help design and renovate his home. I would meet people at the gym, or once even chatted it up with someone in the furniture aisle at Target, which led to one of my first larger furnishing projects. At the time, these moments felt so normal and passive, but I laugh at them now, thinking, how did that even happen? People were trusting me with their homes at such a young age, and I think those experiences really gave me the confidence to know I was on the right path and to keep going.
I spent about four years in the industry working on custom homes and renovations, along with a few hospitality spaces, restaurants, bars, and an apartment clubhouse. Eventually, I realized I wanted more control over my life and my energy. I wanted to have more control over the quality of my projects and, most importantly, the client experience.
So at 24, I took the leap and started Bauley Interiors, where my focus is to create spaces that actually make people’s lives better and make everyday moments feel a little more special. That’s where our motto, ‘Creating Moments & Elevating Experiences,’ comes from. I want that philosophy to be felt not only in the experience my clients have working with Bauley, but in the way they experience their space long after we’re finished.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think starting any business will come with a rollercoaster of ups and downs. We have taken on a limited number of projects in our first few years for quality control, but we are definitely ready for our launch and to grow more. Ultimately, we aren’t very well known yet, and my biggest struggle is being more present on social media, which, in todays world, is the best way to gain attention and business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bauley Interiors?
Bauley Interiors is a full-service design studio specializing in new construction, renovations, and furnishings. We love creating eclectic, cool spaces that feel elevated but still personal and livable. Our typical process takes a project from design through completion, and we’re heavily involved throughout the entire construction process.
Our projects have ranged pretty widely stylistically because, honestly, our clients are all so different. I’d love to define that signature style more as the brand evolves, but right now, I really enjoy taking a client’s personality and creating an elevated, cool style that reflects them.
There are definitely common threads in our work. We have a modern approach and love natural materials, warm woods, stone, lots of texture, and usually a few bolder or unexpected moments. I love when a space feels collected and a little unexpected. We have lots of new projects coming soon that really align with where we are going.
I think that client-first approach is one of the things that sets Bauley apart. We’re not trying to make everyone’s house look the same; we want it to feel unique to them and their story.
Beyond the design itself, I’m really proud of the experience we’re building. I want clients to feel taken care of, excited, and genuinely enjoy the process. I think that is one thing we can stand on; our clients are happy throughout the entire process because we prioritize them.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
This is so hard!!
Well, I had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I took a personality quiz that told me to try interior design. I literally picked up everything, switched majors, and went for it.
I’m very happy I did, but I’m probably not nearly as calculated as people expect me to be. I’m a very in-the-moment, intuition-based person. A lot of the biggest decisions in my life and career have come from something just feeling right and me deciding to go for it, which, looking back, has worked out pretty well so far.
