Today we’d like to introduce you to Samm LLanos.
Hi Samm, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am the founder of Events on Purpose ATX, a community-based event company dedicated to bringing together nonprofits, small businesses, artists, and musicians through collaborative efforts that create meaningful community impact. I started building my company early 2022, but it wasn’t until August 2024 that I finally opened with a soft launch event and an official launch in November 2024, after my position as a Marketing Manager was dissolved in 2023. Through the course of starting my business, I have worked organizing fundraisers, supply drives, awareness events, music festivals, pop-up markets, and other initiatives designed to strengthen community engagement. I have a collaborative business model that I believe promotes the future of the industry. After spending nearly fifteen years in the food and beverage industry, beginning as a bartender before advancing into field marketing, then event and marketing management roles, I decided to go back to school. Losing my position provided me the perfect opportunity to finally finish my Associates of Applied Science in Music Business and pushed me to launch. After 2 years I’ve continued my studies pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies at Texas State University and even decided to work on another project driven by a passion for community service and collaboration co-founding SinnersDoGood, a nonprofit initiative focused on connecting service-industry professionals with volunteer opportunities while supporting existing nonprofit organizations. It’s been a wild journey, but I attribute my success to my persistence and determination to see my dreams actualized.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not all “smooth-sailing”. When I first started building my business in 2022, I had a partner and no intention on building this company on my own. Unfortunately, my partner’s life quickly moved in another direction and this business was no longer in their path. I also had a salary position with a bar company that was meant to be part of the building process, but when that position was dissolved my entire 5-year business plan changed, drastically. For the past couple of years, I’ve kind of just been picking up the pieces and doing what I can, when I can.
We’ve been impressed with Events on Purpose ATX , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Events on Purpose ATX is a community-driven events company based on collaboration, partnership and most importantly impact. I’m still in the process of building it to be what I envision, but I know what sets me apart from the rest of the industry is my willingness to work with others on a sliding scale. Impact is more important to me than monetary gain and I strive to uphold that in everything I do. There’s a lot that I am proud of, but I’m most proud of the supply & food drives I’ve done/ continue to do. It really makes my heart full when the community comes together!

What does success mean to you?
I define success as the ability to take pride in the work you’re doing, while upholding the values you believe in. For me, sure, money is important, but being happy with the efforts I’ve put into something is far more important, especially when it comes to impacting and inspiring the communities you’re apart of.
