Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori Reeves.
Hi Lori, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Austin, Texas, and spent nearly 30 years in marketing and brand strategy, eventually running my own company. That background is exactly why I built Ageless with Lori the way I did — as a real platform, not just a passion project. It’s for women 40 and up who are done waiting for permission to live fully: wellness, travel, adventure, reinvention, all of it.
I’m also a NATJA-credentialed travel journalist, so a lot of what I share comes from actually getting out there — from Lake Austin to Istanbul — and proving that this chapter of life can be the fullest, most adventurous one yet. I want women in this age group to see themselves as just getting started.
Underneath all of it is a belief I live by: life ain’t no dress rehearsal. I became a mother later in life, at 46, and that experience reshaped how urgently I feel about that message — that there’s no expiration date on living boldly or rewriting your own story. I’m currently working on a memoir about that chapter, but the heart of what I do every day is bigger than any one topic — it’s about helping women 40+ see this stage of life as wide open with possibility.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a straight line, and honestly, I wouldn’t want it to be — the struggles are part of what makes the message credible.
Let’s start with the fact that everyone thought I was crazy. When I told my parents I was becoming a mom at 46 through egg donor conception, I braced myself for them to hit the floor. They didn’t — but they definitely needed a moment before the shock turned into pure joy. That reaction taught me something: people just need a minute to catch up to what’s possible. Beyond my family, there weren’t many open conversations or resources for women going through this. I carried some of that silence myself before deciding it wasn’t mine to carry.
On the home front, I’m married to a luxury custom home builder, which means I live with another entrepreneur’s highs and lows on top of my own. Two business owners under one roof means two sets of deadlines, two sets of risks, and twice the celebrating when things go right — it’s a wild, wonderful chaos.
Then there’s the business side of Ageless with Lori itself. Building a content platform from scratch meant starting over in some ways, even with almost 30 years of marketing experience behind me — social media moves fast and doesn’t care how many years you’ve spent in a boardroom.
The common thread: doing hard, unfamiliar things at a stage of life when people expect you to slow down. I’ve found the opposite to be true.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Today I work as a content creator specializing in UGC (user-generated content) for brands, along with travel content creation, both under my own name and through my platform, Ageless with Lori. This is different from influencer marketing — instead of posting content on my own channels to promote a brand, I create the content and hand it over for the brand to use however they need: on their own social channels, in ads, in print, wherever it serves them. Brands come to me for authentic, story-driven content that doesn’t feel like an ad — it feels real, because it is.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I didn’t know it yet, but I was going to become an Austin unicorn — these days, native Austinites are a rare breed in a city everyone else moves to, but back then, I was just a regular kid on Lake Austin, when Westlake was barely a dot on the map, more hippie outpost than the glossy suburb it is today. Think old-school Austin: Willie Nelson practically the soundtrack of the city, kids running loose all day, catching snakes in the yard, drinking straight out of the garden hose because that’s just what you did between adventures. I had an older brother and honestly the most wonderful, free-range childhood you could ask for.
I was also a supremely confident kid with questionable business ethics. I used to gather up the cash left on restaurant tables as tips and proudly bring it home — much to my parents’ horror when they realized what I’d done. I also found a jar of my own baby teeth hidden in my mom’s jewelry box and, in a stroke of entrepreneurial genius, put every single one under my pillow for the tooth fairy in one go. I fully believed I was the Bionic Woman.
Mostly, though, I remember green shag carpet, Saturday morning cartoons with my brother after we finished our chores, and earning our one dollar to walk to the corner store for candy. It was a wonderful childhood — chaotic, a little wild, and very, very Austin.
