Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatrice Longoria.
Hi Beatrice, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
What began as an unexpected pause during COVID became the beginning of something I never knew I was searching for. I went from office work, sales, and wearing pumps to grinding barrel hoops, sanding charred wood, and creating with my hands. What started as a hobby refinishing furniture changed when a customer asked me to create a barrel head. I fell in love with the character of authentic, weathered bourbon wood and even more with personalizing each piece to make it meaningful and memorable. That passion became Barrel Creations LLC now proudly featured in various stores and growing beyond what I ever imagined.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing a business may look simple from the outside, but behind the scenes is a different story. You become your own manager, creator, accountant, marketer, and content creator, often learning as you go. The unseen work and the challenges you overcome don’t just build the business, they build you. And perhaps the greatest success is realizing that, through every challenge, you’ve become a stronger, more capable version of yourself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Barrel Creations, every piece has a story. Our bourbon barrel décor is crafted from authentic, weathered materials, making no two pieces exactly alike. What truly sets us apart is the personalization. Every name, date, logo, and meaningful detail transforms a piece from something beautiful into something deeply personal. It’s not just the story of the barrel or the craftsmanship behind it, it’s the story our customers add to it that makes each creation one of a kind.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking and mentors can open doors, but for us, the greatest teacher has been learning along the way. From books and real-world experience to mastering tools, customers, and the business itself, every challenge has added to our knowledge. Our advice is simple, be willing to learn, get your hands dirty, and don’t be afraid to figure it out yourself. The knowledge you gain becomes part of the success you build.
