Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Stewart.
Hi Hannah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew I wanted to work with animals so when I discovered Dog Grooming it was a no-brainer. I started as a bather at corporate salon in 2011, fell in love with the job, and knew I wanted to turn it into my career.
I trained to become a pet stylist as soon as I could. After a few years I moved on from there, but continued my grooming education, and began to offer house-call grooming.
In 2020, I started working at a local salon. The current owner was looking for someone to take the place over when she retired, and, as of April 2022, I am the proud owner of Lucky J’s Dog Grooming in Lockhart Tx, offering quality service with a gentle hand.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall the transition from employee to business owner was pretty smooth. I have had to learn a lot on the business side of things.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in routine dog grooming & elderly dogs, I provide a all-inclusive service meaning I don’t do packages or upgrades. Every dog receives everything they need per their breed & coat type so as to provide the best possible care.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Passion & Patience, dog grooming isn’t just picking up a pair of clippers. It takes training, education, patience, and a desire to practice and improve your skill.
Read about all the different breeds and their breed standard. Go to grooming seminars and trade shows and never stop learning.
