Exploring Life & Business with Becky Wooster of Bud & Bloom Physical Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Becky Wooster.

Hi Becky, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been a physical therapist for almost 20 years and for 15 of those years of specialized in pregnancy and postpartum and pelvic physical therapy. Narrowing my focus to women’s health especially the pregnancy and postpartum years was personally inspired by my pregnancies and postpartums. I found a lack of care especially in the movement system during these precious times in my life. There was lack of guidance for healing after postpartum and so a big motivator for me is to care for women at this vulnerable time in her life, to hopefully prevent issues with incontinence, prolapse and especially pain, later in life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For me and my business my patience was challenged! I wanted to open my doors and expect a long line of patients waiting to jump on my appointment schedule. This did not happen. I started by doing concierge PT in patients’ homes. Once I was busy and did not have enough time to drive to peoples’ houses, I found a space to practice PT in. Over the years, I have moved locations several times waiting for the perfect spot. With time I made a presence on YouTube and Google, which is how people find me online. Word of mouth drives patients to see me for PT also. And after 12 years of having my own business my schedule is consistently busy, yet I’m still able to provide one on one care that women need for the intimate conversations and expertly guided PT session.

We’ve been impressed with Bud & Bloom Physical Therapy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Bud & Bloom Physical Therapy you will discover the root cause of your symptoms, and uncover the blockages to achieving your goals. Dr. Becky will take the time to listen to your concerns with compassion. You will be cared for with sensitivity regarding the nature of the perinatal time and complexity of issues involving the pelvis. With a holistic approach to achieving optimum health including whole body movement, mindfulness & stress reduction, nutrition, and emotional healing, we will form an action plan to achieve your health goals. You will be empowered to achieve your goals with thorough education about what is particularly going on with your body.

Dr. Becky Wooster, PT has been a manual-based orthopedic physical therapist for 15 years, and takes a whole-body approach to treating movement and soft tissue dysfunction. She earns advanced manual therapy training through The Institute of Physical Art. She has been speciality trained in pelvic physical therapy. Since bearing and delivering three children of her own, she wholeheartedly appreciates the complexity of the female human body through pregnancy and birth. However, with the joy of being pregnant and birthing children, also comes the distress, injury, and sometimes trauma to not just the pelvic floor and abdominals, but almost any other joint and muscle in the body!

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Always be yourself! Be confident in your knowledge and know that people admire you and listen to you and will gain something from each interaction and appointment. Also, take time for self care and “filling your cup.” As someone who works with people and listens and pours out to others all day, I need to take time to recharge myself everyday (early to bed, gentle movement), every week (having fun with my family) and yearly (vacations and bigger chunks of time off of work).
