Today we’d like to introduce you to Urban Ninja.
Hi Urban, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Street art was something I always admired from afar. I wanted to try it but I believed you had to know some secret handshake to be part of it. What I found out was if you just jump right in and do it, that is the best way to try. I tried it and so glad that I did.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was a steady pace. I just wanted my artwork up on the streets for people to see. I remember being frustrated that it felt like no one was paying attention. But I just struggled on and kept putting art up in the streets and soon enough I notice people were reaching out and tagging me in Instagram. it was great I got to meet other like-minded artists, friends and fans.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a street artist. I sticker and wheat paste my artwork up in towns and cities around the world. I do have a day job that supports my creative endeavours.
I don’t talk about my personal life. I wear a ninja mask when I go to shows and events.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice I would tell an artist starting out is to just draw. Draw anything. Doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad just get it out of your system.
