Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven “Rayee”.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My career has always been rooted in one thing: helping people feel good about themselves.
I actually began my professional journey in healthcare, where I learned the importance of caring for people, listening to them, and making them feel seen. Eventually, I realized I wanted to help people in a different way, and that led me to pursue my career in esthetics.
In 2021, I enrolled at Ann Webb Skin Institute and quickly discovered that esthetics was about so much more to me than skincare and beauty services. I became passionate about understanding the science behind what I was doing, educating clients, and continuing to challenge myself professionally. After graduating, I transitioned into the industry as an esthetician and continued growing into roles that allowed me to expand my expertise, including education, leadership, laser hair removal, and body contouring.
One of the most rewarding parts of my journey has been becoming an educator. Being able to share what I’ve learned with future estheticians and help prepare them for the real world gave me an entirely different perspective on my profession. It reminded me that the knowledge I gain is even more meaningful when I can use it to help someone else grow.
My journey eventually led me to create Embodied By Rayee, a brand built around my belief that beauty is about more than what you see on the outside. I want my clients to feel heard, cared for, educated, and empowered. Whether I’m performing a service, educating a client, working with a laser, or helping another professional grow, I want people to leave an interaction with me feeling better than when they came in.
Today, I’m continuing to grow as a licensed esthetician, professional laser hair removal technician, full service body waxer, body contouring specialist, educator, and entrepreneur. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I don’t feel like I’ve reached the finish line. I’m still learning, expanding my skill set, building my brand, and creating new opportunities. For me, the goal has never been simply to have a title. It’s to build a career that allows me to use my gifts, create meaningful experiences, and make an impact on the people I encounter along the way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I honestly don’t think I would want it to be. Some of the most important parts of my growth have come from the seasons when I had to make uncomfortable decisions, start over, and trust myself without knowing exactly how everything would work out.
I’ve had to reinvent myself several times throughout my career. I went from healthcare into esthetics, then from being a student to becoming an esthetician, an educator, a leader, and eventually a business owner. Every transition came with its own learning curve. There were moments when I questioned whether I was making the right decision, especially when I was stepping into something unfamiliar or taking a chance on myself.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that sometimes you have to be willing to outgrow a version of yourself, even when that version feels comfortable. I’ve had to walk away from situations that no longer aligned with the direction I wanted my career to go and trust that making room for something better was worth the uncertainty.
Building a career in this industry has also taught me that talent alone isn’t enough. You have to be consistent, humble enough to keep learning, confident enough to advocate for yourself, and resilient enough to keep showing up when things don’t happen as quickly as you hoped.
Looking back, I’m actually grateful for the difficult seasons. They taught me how to bet on myself. They taught me that I’m capable of figuring things out, even when I don’t have the entire plan. Most importantly, they taught me not to be afraid of starting over. Sometimes starting over isn’t starting from scratch. Sometimes you’re starting again with experience, wisdom, and a much clearer understanding of who you are and what you deserve.
I think that mindset has been one of the biggest reasons I’ve been able to continue evolving in my career. I’m not where I started, and I’m not finished becoming who I’m meant to be.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work has grown into a multifaceted career within the aesthetics industry. I’m a licensed esthetician, full-service body waxer, professional laser hair removal technician, Laser Safety Officer, body contouring specialist, educator, and entrepreneur. What I love most is that I’m able to work with people in so many different ways, while combining hands-on skill, science, education, and genuine connection.
I specialize in helping people feel confident and comfortable in their skin, whether that means creating a personalized skincare plan, providing full-service body waxing, helping clients achieve their goals through laser hair removal or body contouring, or simply educating them on how to properly care for themselves between appointments. I’m very intentional about making sure my clients understand what I’m doing and why. For me, education is just as important as the service itself.
I think I’m best known for the way I make people feel. I’m naturally nurturing, and I genuinely care about the people I work with. I want my clients to feel comfortable asking questions, honest about their concerns, and confident that they’re in good hands. I never want anyone to feel like they’re just another appointment.
One of the things I’m most proud of is becoming an educator. Being able to take the knowledge and experience I’ve gained throughout my career and pour it into future professionals has been incredibly rewarding. It has also pushed me to continue learning and growing myself. Becoming a Laser Safety Officer is another accomplishment I’m proud of because it represents the level of responsibility and professionalism I bring to working with laser technology and client safety.
What sets me apart is the combination of everything I bring to the table. I have a background in healthcare, hands-on experience across multiple areas of aesthetics, experience as an educator and leader, and an entrepreneurial mindset. I understand that aesthetics is both an art and a science, and I take both sides seriously.
Ultimately, I don’t want to just provide a service. I want people to leave my treatment room feeling educated, cared for, confident, and empowered. That philosophy is really at the heart of Embodied By Rayee. My goal is for my work to be something people can feel, not just something they can see.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
One of the biggest sources of inspiration and motivation for me has actually been Nipsey Hussle. I’ve always admired his mindset around hard work, dedication, ownership, and creating something bigger than yourself. What inspired me most was watching him come from an inner-city environment and transform himself into a hustler, entrepreneur, businessman, and community leader.
I watched him take the same determination and hustle that could have kept him stuck and redirect it toward building businesses, creating opportunities, investing in his community, and creating a legacy. That really motivated me because it showed me that your circumstances don’t have to dictate your future. You can change the trajectory of your life through vision, discipline, hard work, and dedication.
His story has especially inspired me during the seasons of my own life where I’ve had to start over, reinvent myself, or believe in something before I could see the results. Watching him build something from the ground up reminded me to keep going, keep learning, and keep betting on myself.
I also connected deeply with his belief that success should be bigger than just yourself. He didn’t only want to make it out; he wanted to create opportunities and inspire the people coming behind him. As an educator and entrepreneur, that’s something I carry with me. I want what I build to create opportunities, share knowledge, and positively impact other people too.
Nipsey’s story gave me a tremendous amount of motivation because he showed me what can happen when you combine hustle with purpose. He inspired me to think beyond simply having a career or making money. I want to build something that has meaning, create a legacy I’m proud of, and use my success to pour back into others. That’s the kind of success that motivates me.
