Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Adrienne Aldaco.
Hi Dr. Adrienne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sunglow Coaching has always been within me. I found it by realizing purpose and passion. It’s an exhilarating feeling. It’s the feeling of the sun glowing from within.
I couldn’t contain it anymore. The perfect time came in the summer of 2023. I decided not to sit on the gift of Sunglow Coaching and made the choice to share it with the world.
I built Sunglow so others could have that same place to reflect, grow, and discover their own power and path forward. I wanted to help other women find that same alignment I’d found. Since its introduction, Sunglow hasn’t only helped me grow in my life and work; it’s done the same for so many others.
As the founder of Sunglow Coaching, I serve people from every background. And I carry a special commitment to Black women navigating leadership spaces, to help them strengthen their voice, advocate for themselves, and lead without shrinking who they are.
When one person transforms, the impact doesn’t stop with them. It reaches families, teams, organizations, and generations still to come.
Sunglow is personal. It’s my legacy. It’s my story. And I share it with others with love and intention.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Getting started was never the challenge. I had the heart and passion for it, dear friends and family who cheered me on, and a few engagements booked in those early months. It was exciting.
The challenges came while I was building and flying at the same time. One of the earliest was truly understanding what it means to run a business, not just hold a hobby. Creating an actual business model, thinking through what I offer and for whom, while making sure I was maintaining my health and well-being first. Creating a business with a strong foundation, and realizing that foundation was me. As I started peeling back the layers, I saw that the work I was asking so many people to do was work I still needed to do myself.
So I spent several months working on me, so I could build something sustainable. I worked on my health. I received my own coaching. I made sure my time stayed aligned to my purpose and passion, relentlessly focused on that, and learning to let go of everything that wasn’t. It took time, reflection, and a deep look at myself, and it’s part of my own continuous growth. This isn’t an end game. It’s a journey. Some days it feels tough, digging deep, learning and unlearning, shifting my life. But I’m better for it, and I feel more equipped than ever to support someone else on theirs.
And I’m still doing the work, daily. As my own coach reminds me, “The work I do, works on me.”
As you know, we’re big fans of Sunglow Coaching. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Sunglow Coaching is a liberating and transformational coaching and consulting practice built on one core belief: transformation starts from within.
Right now, my intentional focus is on two offerings: Organizational Learning Experiences (immersive workshops for teams and leaders) and From Within, an intimate gathering experience for women. In both spaces, I take a collaborative, thought-partner coaching stance, working alongside people rather than handing them a script.
What sets Sunglow apart is where I start. Real, lasting change begins with examining what a leader believes, not just changing what a leader does. So I start with the person, not the performance, and I stay there long enough for it to matter. I also build in real follow-up and accountability at one week and thirty days, because insight deserves the chance to become lasting change.
I carry a special commitment to women, especially women of color, in the middle of their careers. Women ready to be fully seen, valued for their integrity, and recognized for doing good work on their own terms. Helping them find and strengthen their voice is some of the most meaningful work I do, and it’s also the heart of From Within
What I’m proudest of is that Sunglow isn’t a formula I learned. It’s personal. It’s a journey. It’s my story, and I share it with others with love and intention.
I bring over 20 years of experience as an educator, coach, consultant, and thought partner supporting school improvement, program and project management, professional learning design and facilitation, and leadership development, along with HR experience and, most recently, construction management. That range shapes how I coach: I’ve sat in the rooms where systems and people meet, and I know how to help both grow together.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories are the hours spent at the kitchen table with the women in my family: sitting, talking, laughing, telling stories, playing games, and simply enjoying each other’s company. That table was where we built community and connection. It’s where lessons were taught, family stories were passed down, and every gathering became memorable in its own way.
As I listened and learned around that table, I came to understand it as a place of collective healing too, through love, storytelling, advice, and laughter shared freely between generations of women.
I bring that same love and energy into every session I lead, especially From Within, because it’s built to be a collective, communal experience, much like the kitchen table itself.
