Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Versace.
Hi Natasha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a sever at Texas Roadhouse in Laredo, TX that’s where I met my drag mother Vera Versace. We would smoke and hang out in her garage and that’s where I would get my first set of hip pads and ever since I’ve been doing drag consistently I’m little over 2 years into drag. I’m currently living in Austin, Tx where I performed all around the city! I have won a pageant last year “Miss Draggieland 2025” at College Station! This year I’ve done a few bar competitions and I’m still being casted in others and I don’t plan on slowing down!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some obstacles thats I have faced is that when I first started performing in the austin scene I found myself very self conscious and I would not mingle after shows or go out and that really afftected how much I got to perform because in my experience the austin scene is kinda like playing politics you have to make friends if you want bookings and now looking back this was a something that im still struggling to do but I have gotten better at mingling and making friends in the scene.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For my day job I work as a Budtender/ barista at a Amsterdam style coffeeshop called lazydaze! We do infused drinks, smokeables, edibles, and it was doubles as a smoking lounge! Where I provide as trays, rolling trays, lighters, bong rentals, and even a dab bar! I love my job the connections I make at work are some of the best things ive gotten from working there! Customers who turn into my regulars who then go and support my shows! I think what sets me aside from others in the community is that I try and form close bonds with people that go beyond just inviting them to a show to watch me perform.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Im not too sure, I try and be an open book with people I currently renting a house, I have one dog and two cats, I grew up in the valley, when I was younger I used to be apart of a dance group who would get rented out as dancer for quinceañeras, and I have 2 God-Mothers I was set up from the start.
