Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos De La Cerda.
Hi Carlos, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Carlos de la Cerda, and I’m a singer-songwriter from Eagle Pass, Texas. From a young age, I have been passionate about creating music, not just the craft of writing songs, but the sense of community that forms around music.
In 2020, as the pandemic kept everyone apart, I started making music with friends as a way to stay connected. What began as a simple creative outlet grew into The Attached Outsiders, an alternative rock band built from that same circle of friends. By 2024, we were playing live and releasing new music regularly, writing songs about heartbreak and the messy, uncertain work of figuring out life.
Along the way, writing, promoting, and booking our own shows pulled me deeper into the local scene. I started connecting with other bands and incredible people, putting lineups together, and doing what I could to support my friends’ projects. That work eventually took on a life of its own and became my newest venture: Spirit Lane Media.
Spirit Lane Media is a Texas-based music and media company built to help artists grow their careers and strengthen the local music community. Through event booking, promotion, playlist placement, and networking, we give artists the tools and connections they need to share their music, reach new audiences, and build lasting relationships in the industry. Our mission is simple: create opportunities that benefit artists and venues alike, and help build a music scene that thrives for years to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There’s so much more I’d love to do to help artists grow, my own band included, but limited finances often hold me back. Spirit Lane Media is a completely free service, driven purely by a love of music. Still, we dream of supporting artists and the Texas music scene on a much larger scale, and sometimes that takes resources we don’t yet have.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a songwriter, I’m most drawn to music that captures heartache, loneliness, and introspection. What sets my songs apart is the contrast: raw, often painfully honest lyrics set against a driving, high-energy sound.
With Spirit Lane Media, I get to bring artists together and help their projects grow. What I’m proudest of is connecting artists with performance opportunities that open doors to even bigger stages for their music.
What matters most to you? Why?
At the end of the day, what matters most to me is making music with friends and having fun doing it. It’s all about the community that music creates.
