Today we’d like to introduce you to Donta Taylor.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I used to play pro basketball overseas.(6 yrs)
And I ended up tearing my Mcl and Acl. Once that happened I know basketball was over and I had to figure out what was next for me. I went through a lil bit of depression and my (uncke Stoplee ) Stepped in and got me back on track and had a few folks teach me the ropes about music and being a DJ and producer. I started making mixtapes for my friends and some up and coming artists. And. They started becoming a big thing. I ended up going on a couple tours with some A list artist at the time(No Name dropping) But my career as a DJ got a major jump and I started touring more. Fast forward my career launched.me into a deal with Sony music as a DJ. The producing came about from making beats with a close friend Tunezbol( who currently own Konktet Comics) but we started making beats in his studio and doing local shows. As we started working more and the shows got bigger., Fast forward from that I stared getting booked in Atlanta and Texas as DJ. And moving around threw those states. I meet a lot of down south artist working with them. And I became apart of multiple DJ coalitions.(xsquaddjs being 1)
And doing a lot of festivals (Sxsw, Launch festival.etc. as I worked to build my name. My fiancee (Melissa, Support system and business partner) Helped me start 7 music management group llc) were be started putting together are own shows and tours, and during the pandemic we stared a podcast (Adult Talk Lyssa & Se7en) (all platforms that you can stream podcast.
Fast forward to now I can the owner and creater of 7 Indie Music Radio Station (global station that breaks indie music across the globe.. by way of my own radio app. That was created by one of my business partners from ISE multimedia Company) as well as social media and Tv. So as we speak now my focus is making my radio station bigger and more none to the world. As well as making the podcast more successful.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road. I’ve been through 3 major label deal some good some bad. But at this point. 7 music management group llc and 7 Indie Music Radio Station have partnership with Tracc distribution to put out all my music as well as distrub other artists work.
