Today we’d like to introduce you to Marci Winters.
Hi Marci, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child, looking up at the night sky and seeing its wonder, the stars seemed to speak to me. I found a comfort in the mysterious dark space. As a teenager, I found a book in the library on astrology and could not put it down. The messages seemed to resonate, perhaps I had known before in a past incarnation. Finding the celestial stories, was like finding the sweetest candy to eat! Who would have thought I’d become an astrologer later in life! After all, I went to film school and was passionate about screenwriting and production. Still, the Universe led me on my path and seemed to somehow know that I could do it all!
I was simply “called” to serve as an astrologer. I had always been intuitive and sincerely enjoyed helping others. I moved to Kauai and then to Maui where I worked for a wellness/retreat company, SpiritQuest. Healing was the focus for all that came to the islands. In addition to Astrological services (personal, relationship and career focused), I had obtained certifications in Hatha Yoga, Chi Quong (Chinese Yoga) and Meditation. I worked out of a beautiful place on Maui called The Sacred Garden. Using meditation tools, such as the Labyrinth, crystal healing, and sound healing, I served as a guide, setting the intention for all to release that which was not serving them. They went home learning techniques to help them heal.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To truly believe in oneself takes time. I felt confident when I began around thirty years ago, though there was so much to learn! I feel I am still challenged to learn all there is to learn about astrology and about yoga. To make the time to gain more knowledge is essential. I take classes from other instructors and also seek guidance from master astologers.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an Intuitive Astrologer, Hatha Yoga Instructor and Meditation teacher. My focus is on individual and relationship astrology. Astrocartography is also a service I offer; this is location astrology. Using one’s astrological composition, (day, time and location of birth) , I first cast one’s astrological chart. Then I am able to use a computer program to cast an additional map, revealing the best locations for that individual to find personal growth through love, retirement or business expansion.
I am extremely proud of the book that I co-authored GIRAFFE JUICE. The book addresses bullying with compassionate communication. It is available through Amazon and on the Center for Non-Violent Communication website. (cnvc.org) (Feel free to use the image of the book, easily found online). Beyond thrilled that it has been translated into Korean and is being translated in Chinese.
What sets me apart is that my background is so eclectic. Additionally, I have been immersed in various cultures, having lived on the Hawaiian Islands and in the Middle East on the border of Israel and Egypt.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Being open, curious and mindful is essential. I try to “push myself” to get out of my comfort zone. I will listen to my limitations though stretch my skin, so to speak. There are no “dumb questions!” I like to ask questions when I am around people, this way I can learn more!!
