Today we’d like to introduce you to Leia Gregory.
Leia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I always knew since I was a kid that I wanted to be in the beauty industry. I went to cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell Dallas. I started my career journey in my hometown Denton, Tx. In April of 2025 I moved to Austin, Tx and in early July of this year I moved into a booth to start my independent career.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
COVID happened about 6 months into my apprenticeship which definitely made things a little rocky. As soon as salons opened back up, I went back very hungry to start building my clientele and start making a name for myself. After doing hair in Denton for 7 years, moving to Austin and kind of having to start over has been a bit of a struggle. I still have that hunger to build a name for myself here though!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a vivid color, shag, and mullet specialist. I love doing big transformations and making my clients feel like the best version of themselves. I really love doing gender affirming color/cuts as well! My chair is a safe space for the queer community and I strive to make them feel comfortable to express themselves. What makes me the most proud of my work is when my client leaves feeling like a new and improved version of themselves.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think taking risks is a very important part of life. If you never take a risk, you aren’t giving yourself room to learn/grow in my opinion. I definitely took a big risk moving to Austin because, unfortunately, your clients don’t move with you. I am essentially starting from scratch on that end, but I have grown and learned so much about myself in this transition period.

- My color pricing starts at $90/hr which includes the service, a treatment, and style.
- My shag and mullet cuts are $85 which includes a wash, cut, mask, and style.
