Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Skilken.
Hi Jordan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a former Division I diver for the University of Texas at Austin. Between being in the chlorine for hours, trying to balance a hectic practice and school schedule, meets, and travel, my skin was really struggling. My sister, Blake, was also a diver in college at The Ohio State University. Being that we both have very sensitive and reactive skin, we became extremely interested in skincare.
Personally, I loved researching about skincare and learning about different ingredients – which ones were beneficial, what each one did for your skin, and which ones to avoid. My sister and I then found Korean skincare which is pretty much the gold standard for skincare being known for its innovative formulations and high-quality ingredients. After getting into Korean skincare and finally getting into a consistent routine, I started noticing a huge difference in my skin.
After a couple years of staying consistent with our Korean skincare routine, our skin became noticeably better. So much so that other athletes, including male athletes, starting coming up to me asking for help with their skin. I recommended specific Korean products which they began using and it really worked for them. However, it was just too much to maintain and they didn’t want to have to come home and use all of the different products and lug around all of the bottles. My sister was experiencing the exact same thing with Ohio State athletes coming up to her asking for help.
My sister and I saw a real problem and decided we were going to put all of our effort into coming up with a solution. We started researching Korean manufacturers and finally after three years in development, we launched our company SKILK and a unique product called The Complete Duo. The Complete Duo is an innovate 2-step Korean skincare routine in wipe form. It is a complete portable skincare routine you can do from anywhere making it ideal for post-workout, travel days, late nights out, and when a typical skincare routine just isn’t practical. Because the formula is a no-rinse and no sink is needed, you can even do your skincare routine from the comfort of your own bed.
We remained passionate about the ingredients that went into our formula and carefully formulated this product safe for both sensitive and acne-prone skin. The Complete Duo is made with clean, quality ingredients, we are cruelty-free (no testing on animals) and the wipes are biodegradable, making it better for the environment. We created a very simple yet highly effective skincare routine, so that when your skincare routine isn’t practical, you can still stay consistent and your skin won’t have to suffer.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. We had to switch manufacturers several times before finding one that could deliver the quality we wanted at the right price and, equally importantly, a team we trusted and genuinely enjoyed working with. Starting a business from the ground up right after college has been a challenge in itself. The process has taken much longer than we originally anticipated and has required constant learning and problem-solving. Despite the obstacles, building SKILK with my sister has also been a lot of fun and truly a rewarding and exciting experience.

SKILK also known as Skilk Skin is a skincare company founded by my sister, Blake, and myself, two former Division I athletes who wanted to create the solution we wished we’d had years ago. Between practices, classes, competitions, and travel, taking care of our skin wasn’t always easy. We knew what it felt like to rush from practice to class with sweat still on our faces or come home after a long night and fall asleep in our makeup. We wanted quality skincare that could fit into those moments when a full routine simply wasn’t practical.
That’s what inspired our unique product, the Complete Duo: a high-quality, two-step Korean skincare routine in wipe form. Step 1, Remove, cleanses your face without needing to rinse. Step 2, Renew, hydrates your skin with a moisture-enhanced wipe. This completes your routine.

Blake leads the creative side, from our graphics and packaging to curating our social media, while I handle operations and finance. We each bring a different perspective, but we share the same vision for what we want SKILK to become.
