Today we’d like to introduce you to Nika Grady.
Hi Nika, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
ARION started around 2017 when I was a senior in college. My friends and I would go to pool parties and when we would show up, most of the girls would have on the same swimsuits from the stores. So I decided that I would make my own swimsuit for the next pool party. I went to Walmart and got a sewing machine and a metallic silver fabric and I stayed up all night learning how to make a bikini. The next weekend, when we went to the pool party, I got so many compliments on my bikini and a bunch of girls wanting me to make them one too and that’s how my business got started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. There’s been a lot of challenges. Balancing working a full-time job and running a business is very difficult. And the pressure of being a content creator as well to promote my business on social media.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a fashion designer that specializes in women’s swimwear. What sets my brand apart is the high fashion aesthetic. It’s not like your average swimsuit brand. My brand is known for being able to style at more than just the pool. I am most proud of participating in Miami Swim Week. That was a big moment for me and my brand.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family has carried me through. They are my biggest cheerleaders.
