Hidden Gems: Meet Nina Harrison of NH Fitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Harrison.

Hi Nina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve shared my journey before — from Ukraine to building a life and career in the United States, a country I’m incredibly grateful to call home. Almost ten years later, I find myself still learning, growing, and discovering new possibilities. Today, as the founder of NH Fitness, I have the privilege of working with remarkable people and being part of their personal transformations. I also continue to challenge myself as an athlete. In 2026, I qualified for the CrossFit Quarterfinals, an achievement I’m proud of, but what excites me even more is what I’ve learned along the way and how I can use that knowledge to help others. My perspective on fitness has become much bigger than performance or appearance. I believe one of life’s greatest luxuries is the ability to grow older while remaining strong, healthy, independent, and fully engaged in life. We can’t control everything, but our daily choices matter tremendously — how we move, how we nourish ourselves, how we think, and even how we treat others. My mission is to help people improve their quality of life, prevent avoidable health problems, and enjoy as many active, fulfilling years as possible. I love what I do, I’m grateful for the people who trust me, and I believe there’s still so much more to learn and accomplish.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road? I don’t think such a thing exists! And I’m not sure I’d want one. Building a business, raising a family, changing careers, and constantly challenging myself have certainly come with obstacles. Starting over in a new country required courage, patience, and a willingness to become a beginner again. And both entrepreneurship and athletics have taught me that progress is rarely a straight line.

I’ve learned that our circumstances don’t define us nearly as much as our choices do. We can focus on what isn’t working or look for opportunities to learn and grow. I try to approach life with curiosity, gratitude, and a sense of humor. Not everything needs to be taken so seriously! Sometimes strength isn’t about pushing harder, but knowing when to slow down, change direction, and enjoy the journey. I’m still figuring things out myself, and I think that’s what makes life interesting.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about NH Fitness?
NH Fitness is built around a simple philosophy: train for the life you want to live, not just for how you want to look. I specialize in pain-free performance, strength training, mobility, nutrition coaching, and helping people improve their quality of life at every age. My approach combines science-based training with highly personalized coaching, because no two bodies, lifestyles, or goals are the same. I want my clients to build strength that serves them outside the gym — whether that’s playing with their grandchildren, traveling, pursuing their favorite sports, or simply enjoying everyday life without physical limitations.

What I’m most proud of isn’t a particular program or business milestone, but the people I’ve had the privilege of working with and the relationships we’ve built over the years. Seeing someone regain confidence, become stronger, move better, or accomplish something they once thought impossible is incredibly rewarding. I believe great coaching goes beyond counting repetitions. It’s about education, trust, consistency, and helping people make better choices for their long-term health. My goal is to make fitness a natural, sustainable part of life rather than another temporary project.

What are your plans for the future?
I have so many ideas, and I’m excited about what’s ahead! One of my biggest goals is to grow NH Fitness beyond the hours I can personally spend coaching. I’m exploring new ways to reach more people through education, online programs, community partnerships, and eventually building a team that shares my philosophy. I want to make quality fitness coaching more accessible while maintaining the personal attention and genuine relationships that have always been important to me.

Personally, I want to keep learning, traveling, challenging myself as an athlete, meeting interesting people, and staying open to unexpected opportunities. I don’t believe we ever reach a point where we’re finished growing. There’s always another skill to learn, another goal to pursue, or a new perspective to discover. I don’t have every detail of the future figured out, and that’s part of the excitement! My philosophy remains the same: Dream Big, Plan Small, Act Now.
