Conversations with Elisha Hill Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elisha Hill Williams.

Hi Elisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey has taken me through several different chapters, but the common thread throughout all of them has been my desire to grow, help others, and create something meaningful.

I started my career in customer service and administrative roles, where I learned how to communicate with different people, solve problems, stay organized, and navigate challenging situations. Those early experiences gave me a foundation that I would carry into every opportunity that followed.

Eventually, I transitioned into education, where I spent several years teaching mathematics and grew into leadership and program-focused roles. I worked in areas such as blended learning, intervention, staff support, and program administration. Those experiences taught me that leadership goes beyond a title. It’s about recognizing people’s strengths, meeting them where they are, and creating opportunities for them to succeed.

Outside of my professional career, I’ve always had a creative side and a desire to express myself through writing. Over time, that passion grew into becoming a self-published author and exploring entrepreneurship. I’ve learned that I don’t have to fit into one box or limit myself to one version of who I can become.

My journey hasn’t always looked the way I imagined it would, but every chapter has taught me something valuable about myself. I’ve learned to embrace change, trust my ability to adapt, and recognize that growth sometimes requires stepping outside of what’s familiar.

Today, I’m in a season of evolution. I’m building on the experience I’ve gained throughout my career while making room for new opportunities, creative projects, and entrepreneurial goals. I’m learning to see my different interests and experiences not as separate pieces of my life, but as parts of a bigger picture.

Looking back, I can see how each chapter prepared me for the next. My journey is still unfolding, and I’m excited about what’s ahead. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that your beginning doesn’t have to determine your ending. Sometimes, the experiences that feel like detours are actually preparing you for a new direction you never imagined.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, the road definitely hasn’t been smooth. There have been seasons when I’ve had to find strength in myself that I didn’t even know I had.

One of my biggest challenges was going to college at night while raising two children. Trying to balance motherhood, school, responsibilities, and everything else life required of me was not easy. There were plenty of sleepless nights, moments of exhaustion, and times when I had to keep pushing even when I felt like I had very little left to give.

I’ve also experienced the pain of failed relationships, losing friends, and watching family members pass away. Those experiences change you. Grief has a way of reminding you how precious life is, while difficult relationships can teach you hard lessons about yourself, your boundaries, and what you deserve. There have been moments when I’ve had to pick up the pieces privately, continue showing up for my children, and figure out how to move forward even when life didn’t look the way I imagined it would.

Another challenge has been navigating seasons of uncertainty—trying to figure out my next step, reinventing myself professionally, and learning that it’s okay for your life to take a different direction than you originally planned. Sometimes you can be doing everything you know to do and still find yourself facing unexpected obstacles.

But through all of it, I’ve learned that resilience isn’t always loud. Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed when you’re exhausted, showing up for your children when you’re hurting, going to class after a long day, or finding the courage to start over when something you believed in doesn’t work out.

I wouldn’t say that every struggle happened for a reason, because some things are simply painful. But I do believe we can learn from what we survive. Those experiences have shaped the way I lead, write, parent, and approach life. They’ve taught me to give myself grace, to keep creating even when life feels uncertain, and to understand that starting over doesn’t mean you’ve failed.

Sometimes, continuing to show up for your life is an accomplishment all by itself.
Resilience isn’t always loud.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is rooted in leadership, creativity, personal growth, and helping people recognize their potential. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in customer service, administration, education, and leadership, and each experience has shaped the way I approach my work today.

I’m someone who enjoys bringing structure to ideas, solving problems, developing people, and finding ways to make things work better. In education, that meant helping students succeed, supporting staff, coordinating programs, and creating processes that made a difference. In my creative work, it means using my voice and experiences to create books and resources that encourage, inspire, and connect with others.

I’m also a self-published author. I’ve written a book of poetry, three children’s books, a guided journal, and a self-help book. Each project represents a different part of me and my desire to create something that people can learn from, relate to, or use in their own lives.

Through The Elisha Brand, I’m bringing my interests in leadership, creativity, entrepreneurship, and personal development together. My vision is to build something that reflects the many sides of who I am while encouraging others to embrace their own journeys and recognize that they don’t have to fit into one box to be successful.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve continued to create and grow through different seasons of my life. I’ve balanced motherhood, education, professional responsibilities, personal challenges, and my creative ambitions while continuing to pursue the things that matter to me. I’m proud of the books I’ve published, the people I’ve had the opportunity to impact, and the leadership skills I’ve developed along the way.

What sets me apart is my versatility and my ability to connect with people. I can be analytical and organized when a problem needs solving, compassionate when someone needs support, and creative when an idea needs to come to life. I believe leadership isn’t just about having a title; it’s about how you show up, how you serve others, and what you build along the way.

Ultimately, I want my work to reflect a simple belief: you can evolve, reinvent yourself, and pursue multiple passions without losing sight of who you are. I’m still building, still learning, and still discovering what’s possible, and I want that journey to encourage other people to do the same.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people is just how many different sides of me exist beyond what they see on the surface. People may know me as an educator, a leader, or an author, but there’s so much more to my story than any one title can capture.

I’m both a structured, analytical person and a deeply creative one. I can spend time organizing programs, developing processes, and solving problems, and then turn around and pour my thoughts and emotions into poetry, children’s books, photography, or a journal. I love that I can use both sides of myself to create things that are meaningful in different ways.

Another thing people might not realize is that I didn’t wait until I had everything figured out to start creating. I’ve pursued my goals while navigating motherhood, personal challenges, career changes, and seasons of uncertainty. I’ve learned to create in the middle of real life, not just when everything is perfect.

I think that’s one of the most important things about me: I’m always becoming. I’m willing to learn, start over, explore something new, and give myself permission to grow beyond what people may expect of me. I don’t believe we have to be one-dimensional, and I hope my journey encourages other people to embrace all the different parts of who they are, too.
