Meet Alin Prasla of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alin Prasla.

Hi Alin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story started like many other creators! As a kid, I loved making videos on my parents’ phone and uploading them to what I jokingly called my YouTube channel, which was really just our family group chat. As I got older, my passion for content creation grew, and I eventually decided to pursue it seriously. Growing my platform in San Antonio and Houston was challenging, but moving to Austin completely changed the game. Between everything the city has to offer and attending UT Austin, where campus events have given me so many new opportunities to create content, I’ve been able to grow my platform in ways I never imagined.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! I had to experiment with different types of content before finding what truly felt right for me. I started with TikTok Shop content, but it didn’t excite me the way I hoped. Switching to lifestyle content allowed me to share my daily life, show my personality, and genuinely enjoy creating without it feeling like a job. Balancing an internship, being a full-time student, and creating content can be challenging, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world because I’m so grateful for every opportunity I’ve received.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a social media content creator based in Austin and a student at UT Austin. I specialize in lifestyle content that helps UT students discover new food spots, fun activities, and unique experiences around the city. I love putting a fun twist on college life and showing students that there’s always something new to explore. What sets me apart is my focus on connecting with the UT Austin community rather than trying to appeal to everyone in Austin. I’m most proud of building a platform where students can discover new places and experiences that make their college years even more memorable.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice is to just start posting, whether you know your niche or not. You don’t have to be a professional or have everything figured out from the beginning. You’re going to make mistakes, feel confused about what to post, and try things that don’t work, but that’s all part of the process. I started creating TikTok Shop content that I eventually realized wasn’t for me, but that experience helped me discover what I truly enjoyed creating. You learn as you go, so don’t wait until you feel ready to start!
