Check Out Rachel Winbigler’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Winbigler.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up with a single immigrant mom who is Armenian and grew up in Ukraine. I wasn’t raised with a lot of money, and I started working at a young age. That background shaped how I approach opportunities: if there’s something I really want to do, I look for a way to make it happen, even if the path isn’t obvious.

When I was 15, I created a GoFundMe to help fund six months of studying abroad in Australia. That experience completely changed the way I saw the world and what I thought was possible for myself. Being somewhere so far from home, meeting people with different backgrounds, and experiencing another way of life made my world feel much bigger. After that experience, I became more ambitious than ever before. I realized there was so much out there!

That drive carried into my education. I earned my bachelor’s degree in International Business from Trinity University and later my master’s degree at ESCP in Madrid. I’ve now visited 26 countries, and spending time abroad has continued to shape the kind of life I want to build.

After working in tech for a while, I started creating travel content on social media. I wanted to share both my own experiences and practical ways other people could access opportunities abroad. Because I didn’t grow up wealthy, I know how easy it is to assume that travel or living overseas is something reserved for other people. Through my account, @rachel.everywhere, I’m trying to help people see the possibilities and find a realistic way to pursue them, whether that’s through studying abroad, affordable travel, or other pathways.

Now, I’m preparing to start traveling full-time with my boyfriend in January 2027, with no set end date. I’m building my work around content creation and taking a leap toward a life I’ve wanted for a long time. I’m still figuring out what that will look like, and I want to share that process honestly, including the planning, financial decisions, and uncertainty. My hope is that someone following along will see my story and think, “Maybe there’s a way for me to do this, too.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve dealt with a messy divorce between my parents, family health struggles, and the challenge of figuring out my own direction while all of that was happening. Money has also been a consistent concern. A lot of the opportunities I’ve pursued have required me to work, save, and get creative about how to make them possible.

I’m 25, and I’ve already explored about seven different career paths. I’ve worked jobs I hated and had to start over multiple times. It can be frustrating to put time and energy into something, realize it isn’t right for you, and then face the uncertainty of what comes next.

I’m still working through some of those challenges. Preparing to travel full-time and build a career through social media comes with financial uncertainty, and that feels especially significant when money has always been something I’ve had to think carefully about.

But I keep looking forward. Each experience has helped me understand more about what I want, what I’m willing to work for, and what kind of life I want to build. I don’t have everything figured out, but I’m learning that I can change direction and still make progress.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a travel content creator behind @rachel.everywhere, where I share affordable ways to travel and practical pathways to spending time abroad. My work combines useful resources with my own experiences, from studying overseas to preparing for full-time travel in January 2027.

I focus on helping people turn “I wish I could do that” into something they can actually explore. That might mean finding study-abroad opportunities, understanding different ways to live overseas, or making travel more financially accessible. I want people to leave my page with a starting point, not just a destination to dream about.

What sets my perspective apart is my background. I didn’t grow up wealthy, and my first experience abroad involved working toward an opportunity and fundraising to make it possible. I understand why money can make these experiences feel out of reach, so affordability is central to the resources I share.

One thing I’m especially proud of is creating a free list of 100 universities that accept international students. It brought thousands of people into the conversation about studying abroad and helped me see how much demand there is for clear, accessible information. Building an audience has been exciting, but creating something people can use to explore their own future has been the most meaningful part.

I am especially proud of the impact and feedback I have received from people all over the world who say I have inspired them or that I helped them get closer to their goals. My dream is to help thousands of people travel the world and escape there bubble.

I’m also documenting my own transition into full-time travel while building a career in content creation. I’m still in the middle of that process, and I want to be honest about the work, financial decisions, and uncertainty involved. Ultimately, I want to be known as someone who helps people find realistic ways to see more of the world, even if they don’t have a lot of money or a straightforward path.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by how I treat people and how closely the life I’m living reflects who I truly am. It means being kind to strangers and being a loving, present friend, family member, and partner. It means considering how my choices affect others, staying compassionate, being a part of a community, and helping when I can.

I also think success means continuing to grow: being willing to learn, admit when I’m wrong, and change direction when something no longer feels right. I want to build a life that feels authentic to me while making room to care for the people around me.

Career achievements and financial stability matter to me, but they’re only part of the picture. I want to feel proud of the person I’m becoming, as much as anything I accomplish.
