Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanner Shepard.
Hi Tanner, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We started LawnPop in 2010 to get families back outside using their backyards. Lot’s of families with kids, pets, a pool and large live oaks made it hard to grow real grass. Many homeowners had dry, barren backyards that were dusty and muddy after a rain. Kids and pets tracking dirt into the house. With LawnPop artificial turf that pain went away. Not to mention lower water bills by saving water. A win-win! Families were getting their weekends back. We have since expanded to backyard putting greens which have become extremely popular.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Training and retaining talented craftsmen was challenging at first. But now we have a strong team that has been with us for a long time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a degree in Landscape Architecture and enjoy using my creative side to design luxury golf greens. The fun part is art directing and shaping these putting greens on site. Golf Art! – Tanner
I love building and managing our amazing team of craftsmen. And getting to meet so many wonderful families each week. It’s not sales to me; it’s a relationship with our clients. – Angie
