Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Jeffs.
Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Le Petit Ranch (LPR) brings a western touch to events through live customization using our mini branding irons. Guests can get hats and leather goods personalized on the spot, leaving with something uniquely theirs.
LPR was born in August 2024, after almost a year of dreaming it up. The idea came from my love for collecting trinkets: small keepsakes from a place or event that holds a special memory. When I was planning my own wedding, I was looking for a unique gift to give my guests who traveled to Texas from around the world. I couldn’t find something that fit the bill and the budget. That is how Le Petit Ranch was born.
Le Petit Ranch translates to “The Little Ranch”, which is a play on words, referring to the mini branding irons we use. The name came to me while I was at the Round Top Antiques show, exploring booth upon booth of European antique furniture and art. I was drawn to the intricate wood carvings and the rustic charm of the French Country style furniture. Everything was so beautiful and well-made. I left the antique show that day feeling enchanted, which is a sentiment I wanted my own brand to elicit.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every entrepreneur has their share of bumps in the road. I think that how you approach these challenges is what defines the success of your business. I’ve always faced things head on and used each challenge as an opportunity to continue learning. I don’t dwell on the operational challenges like inventory hiccups or lapses in staffing, because I don’t think these are unique challenges to just me.
Personally, my business started to grow exponentially while I was simultaneously growing my first child. Although this did not cause many challenges early on, it became pretty evident that I couldn’t produce the same experience the more pregnant I became. At the end of my pregnancy, it was physically hard to be as active and present as needed for my clients. Luckily, I have a small but mighty team who really showed up for me when I needed it. The hardest part of this growth in my business was having to say no to opportunities when I was freshly postpartum. I was adamant about taking time off to heal and be with my daughter, but I felt like I was falling behind when the momentum was really starting to take off. However, my clients have always been nothing but supportive of me and my growing family and were there, ready to book events as soon as I was ready to return from maternity leave.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our most popular service, Tiny Trinkets, is a quick-stamp experience where we personalize small, affordable leather goods for guests using our signature “petit” branding irons. Our Trinkets are not only a useful, high quality keepsake for the guest, but the live branding activation is a special memory they’ll take with them, too. We have a wide variety of leather goods to offer, ranging from keychains and luggage tags to wine totes and journals. This service is best for high volume events.
At LPR, we have two hat bar offerings, based on the client’s goal for the event as well as their budget. The Cowboy Classic is a no-frills hat bar experience where we customize a classic cowboy hat using our mini branding irons, creating timeless, wearable pieces for guests. This offering is perfect for midsize events.
The next level hat bar is our Full Rodeo experience. This is an elevated, full-service hat bar experience where we personalize every detail, using premium materials to create a standout, luxury piece for each guest. This offering is best for more intimate events.
Finally, our most unique offering is our Forged in Flame package. It is a bespoke service where we create a custom family brand, source the branding material and guide couples through a symbolic unity ceremony. This service is made for the couple looking to create a new family heirloom. Each brand is hand-sketched by me and my husband, just like we did for our own wedding. We created this package because when it was our turn, we couldn’t find anyone to help us coordinate it. While ours still turned out beautifully with just the help of my father, my husband and I, we’ve perfected the process to make it absolutely seamless for our couples.
My goal with all of my services is to offer the highest quality product for the most affordable price. All of our hats are beaver-wool blends, made right here in Texas. Our leather goods are sourced from small businesses in the US, based in Texas, Michigan and Minnesota. I do not mark up our experiences exponentially, like many of our competitors, because becoming rich is not my goal. My goal with LPR is to elevate events that foster relationships and create core memories.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think it can be intimidating finding a mentor, especially when it can feel like such a competitive landscape. Personally, I have found it most beneficial to become co-mentors with friends on similar entrepreneurial journeys. For me, finding other business owners in the events space has been extremely helpful. We are able to brainstorm and build each other up without feeling like we are competing for the same clients. I’ve found these people by reaching out to and connecting with the vendors at each event I’m working.
