Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly McCarver.
Kimberly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We started Le Noire Sugar out of anxiety and loss. We had lost multiple family members within a short span of time, two being covid related. I was nervous about getting a pedicure and my lover decided to make a lemon-based scrub for an at-home pedicure. That gesture of love, aromatherapy and relaxation made us want to spread it to everyone.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Neither of us knew anything about setting up a website, ordering bulk supplies, etc. lenoiresugar.com came about after a conversation with our sis who stated she could make the page, help with content creation, and literally set up everything for us. We launched after my sisters put their jar online that we gave them to try. Orders started coming in faster than we could keep up. We created a system and took time out to make it work for us. Made some of our products in bulk so it would be easier to package when it was time.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are local to Austin, born and raised, we understand the climate change, the anxiety of the bustling and booming city, and we want to continue to Keep Austin Weird in the midst of it all. Every skincare product we offer is handcrafted with our own original recipes plus we are super COVID19 conscious and sage every item before shipping/delivery. We want the consumer to feel the love that we put into our work.
What are your plans for the future?
We just launched our Men’s Collection during the Noir Creators Space Open Market and it was a hit! We are hoping to expand more into skin masks really soon.
