Meet Amber Hoffmann of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Hoffmann.

Hi Amber, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story has never really followed a straight line, and looking back, I think that’s one of the things I love most about it. I’ve always been someone who believes you can have more than one passion, more than one career, and certainly more than one chapter in life.

I began my career in the beauty industry over 22 years ago as a hairstylist. What started as a creative outlet quickly developed into a genuine passion for helping people feel confident and beautiful. Over the years, I learned that the beauty industry is about so much more than hair. It’s about relationships, trust, creativity, and understanding people. Those experiences ultimately opened the door for me to transition from behind the chair into the business and sales side of the industry.

Today, I’m a Regional Sales Manager for Bellami Professional, overseeing Texas and New Mexico. My role allows me to combine my industry experience with my love for business development, relationship building, and helping other beauty professionals grow their businesses. It’s incredibly rewarding to take everything I’ve learned throughout my career and use that knowledge to support others in an industry that’s been such a significant part of my life.

But beauty has never been my only passion.

I’ve also spent the past decade building a career in Austin’s real estate industry as a licensed Realtor, including experience working alongside custom and speculative home builders. That chapter introduced me to another side of my creativity: architecture, interiors, home design, and the incredible transformation that happens when you turn a house into a home.

I’ve always had an eye for design and a love for creating beautiful spaces, but I’ve never believed that having a beautiful home should require an unlimited budget. That philosophy inspired my newest entrepreneurial venture, Tumbleweed House & Design, a home décor and interior styling business I’m currently developing. My vision is to help people create elevated, thoughtfully designed spaces by combining affordable finds, existing pieces, and a little creativity. I love the idea of making beautiful design feel attainable rather than intimidating.

Outside of my professional life, I’m probably not what everyone expects. I’m a huge classic car enthusiast, I absolutely love baseball, and I’m just as happy spending an afternoon at a car show or a ballpark as I am exploring beautiful interiors, fashion, or the latest trends in the beauty industry. I think having such a wide range of interests is part of what makes life exciting. I’ve never felt the need to fit into one particular box.

On a personal level, I’m also a mother of two daughters, and being an example to them is incredibly important to me. I want them to grow up knowing that it’s okay to reinvent yourself, pursue different passions, take risks, and build a life that genuinely makes you happy. Success doesn’t have to look the same for everyone, and it certainly doesn’t have to happen on anyone else’s timeline.

If there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that you don’t have to limit yourself to being just one thing. You can be creative and business-minded, ambitious and family-oriented, established in your career and still excited about starting something completely new.

At this stage of my life, I’m incredibly proud of the experience I’ve gained, the relationships I’ve built, and the challenges I’ve overcome. But what excites me most is knowing that I’m nowhere near finished. I still have businesses I want to build, ideas I want to bring to life, and experiences I want to have.

I genuinely believe some of the most exciting chapters of my story are still ahead of me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, but I think some of the most meaningful growth in life comes from the seasons that challenge us the most.

The past two years have been some of the most difficult of my life. I went through an incredibly traumatic divorce that challenged me emotionally, mentally, and personally in ways I never could have anticipated. There were moments when simply navigating everyday life felt overwhelming, much less balancing a career, raising my daughters, and continuing to pursue the goals I had worked so hard to achieve.

But one thing I’ve always believed is that our circumstances don’t have to define our future. I made a conscious decision that no matter how difficult things became, I wasn’t going to allow that chapter of my life to determine the rest of my story.

I continued showing up for my children, my career, and, most importantly, myself. I invested in personal growth, healing, and learning to recognize my own worth. It wasn’t always easy, and there were certainly days when I felt like I was taking two steps backward for every step forward. But I never stopped believing that there was something better waiting on the other side.

Through that experience, I learned the importance of resilience, forgiveness, and having the courage to start again. I also learned that strength isn’t necessarily about having everything together all the time. Sometimes it’s simply about getting up the next morning and refusing to give up on the life you know you’re capable of building.

And the beautiful thing is that life has a way of surprising you when you least expect it.

After everything I went through, I unexpectedly found what I genuinely believe is the love of my life. I met someone who brought a level of love, peace, friendship, and genuine partnership into my world that I had always hoped existed. It’s been an incredible reminder that our past experiences don’t have to dictate what we’re capable of receiving in the future.

Today, I’m in a place where I feel more grounded, confident, and excited about life than I have in a very long time. I’m continuing to grow professionally, pursuing new entrepreneurial dreams, and building a future that feels incredibly fulfilling.

I’m also a woman of faith, and I genuinely believe that God can take some of the most painful experiences in our lives and use them to redirect us toward something we never could have imagined for ourselves.

If there’s anything I hope someone takes away from my story, it’s this: Don’t let a difficult chapter convince you that your story is over. Keep pursuing your dreams, keep believing in yourself, and don’t allow heartbreak or disappointment to make you lose faith in what the future can hold.

Sometimes the life you’ve been praying for is waiting on the other side of everything you thought you would never get through.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Professionally, I’ve always gravitated toward industries that allow me to combine creativity, business, and meaningful relationships. Whether it’s beauty, real estate, or interior design, there’s a common thread throughout everything I’ve pursued: I genuinely enjoy helping people achieve something that makes them feel confident, successful, or inspired.

My primary career has been in the professional beauty industry, where I’ve spent more than 22 years developing my expertise. I started behind the chair as a hairstylist, which gave me an invaluable foundation in understanding the industry from the perspective of the professionals who work in it every day.

Today, I serve as a Regional Sales Manager for Bellami Professional, overseeing Texas and New Mexico. I specialize in business development, account management, professional education, and building long-term relationships with salon owners and stylists.

What I love most about my role is that I’m not simply selling a product. I’m helping beauty professionals grow their businesses, expand their knowledge, and create opportunities for themselves. Having spent so many years as a stylist, I understand the challenges of building a clientele, staying competitive, and creating a sustainable business in an ever-evolving industry. That firsthand experience allows me to approach my role from a place of genuine understanding rather than simply focusing on sales numbers.

Alongside my career in beauty, I’ve also spent the past decade working in Austin’s real estate industry as a licensed Realtor, including experience in residential real estate and working with custom and speculative homebuilders. Real estate has given me another avenue to explore my passion for business, architecture, and design while strengthening my skills in negotiation, marketing, and understanding what people truly value.

That combination of experience has also inspired my newest venture, Tumbleweed House & Design, a home décor and interior styling business I’m currently working toward launching.

My vision for the business is centered around a simple philosophy: Beautiful spaces. Real budgets.

I’ve always believed that great design isn’t necessarily about how much money you spend. It’s about having an eye for detail, understanding how different elements work together, and knowing how to create a space that feels both beautiful and personal. I want to help people achieve elevated, sophisticated interiors without feeling like they need an unlimited budget to do it.

As far as what sets me apart, I think it’s my ability to see the bigger picture while still paying attention to the details. I’m naturally creative, but I’m also extremely business-minded. I understand the importance of strategy, relationships, consistency, and following through on what you say you’re going to do.

I’m also someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people. I’ve built my career on relationships, and I believe authenticity is one of the most valuable qualities you can bring into any industry. People can tell when you genuinely care about their success, and I’ve always tried to make that a defining part of how I conduct business.

What I’m most proud of, though, isn’t necessarily a particular title or professional accomplishment. It’s the fact that I’ve continued to evolve throughout my career without losing sight of who I am or what matters to me.

I’ve built experience across multiple industries, navigated significant personal challenges, raised two daughters, and continued pursuing opportunities that excite me. I haven’t allowed myself to become limited by the idea that I have to choose just one path.

I think there’s something incredibly empowering about reaching a point in life where you recognize the value of everything you’ve learned and realize you can use those experiences to create something entirely new.

For me, success has never been about simply reaching a destination. It’s about continuing to grow, challenging yourself, building meaningful relationships, and creating a life you’re genuinely excited to wake up to.

And I think that’s what I’m most proud of: I’ve never stopped growing, and I have no intention of starting now.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve always believed that some of the greatest opportunities in life come from being willing to step outside your comfort zone. I’m definitely a risk-taker, but I like to think of myself as someone who takes calculated risks. I don’t believe in making decisions simply for the thrill of it, but I also don’t believe in allowing fear of the unknown to keep me from pursuing something I genuinely want.

Looking back, some of the biggest risks I’ve taken have involved reinventing myself professionally. After spending so many years behind the chair as a hairstylist, transitioning into the corporate sales and business development side of the beauty industry meant stepping away from something I knew incredibly well and challenging myself in an entirely different capacity. It required confidence, adaptability, and a willingness to learn. Ultimately, that decision opened doors I might never have experienced had I stayed where I was comfortable.

Pursuing a career in real estate was another leap of faith. Entering an entirely different industry while continuing to build my career in beauty wasn’t necessarily the easiest path, but I’ve never been someone who believes you have to limit yourself to one passion or one professional identity. I saw an opportunity to challenge myself, expand my knowledge, and pursue something that genuinely interested me, so I went for it.

Now, as I work toward launching Tumbleweed House & Design, I’m embracing another opportunity to take something I’m passionate about and turn it into a business. Starting something of your own always comes with uncertainty, but I think there’s a difference between being afraid of failure and allowing that fear to make your decisions for you.

Some of the biggest risks I’ve taken, however, haven’t had anything to do with my career.

The past couple of years have taught me that sometimes the greatest act of courage is being willing to rebuild your life when it looks nothing like you imagined it would. Going through a difficult divorce, finding the strength to heal, and eventually allowing myself to be vulnerable enough to love and trust again required a different kind of risk-taking. It meant believing that my future could still be beautiful, even after experiencing some incredibly painful circumstances.

That experience changed the way I look at risk. I realized that staying somewhere simply because it’s familiar doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the safest or best place for you. Sometimes the greater risk is remaining in a situation that no longer allows you to grow.

At this stage of my life, I approach opportunities with a combination of experience, intuition, and faith. I do my research, I consider the possible outcomes, and I trust myself to figure things out along the way. I’ve learned that even when something doesn’t work out exactly as planned, there’s usually something valuable to take from the experience.

I also think it’s important for my daughters to see that taking risks and pursuing your dreams doesn’t have an expiration date. You can build a successful career, raise a family, experience setbacks, and still decide there’s something new you want to accomplish.

Ultimately, I would rather look back on my life knowing I had the courage to try than spend years wondering what might have happened if I had.

I don’t believe every risk will lead to success, but I do believe that refusing to take any risks can keep you from discovering what you’re truly capable of.
