Rising Stars: Meet Christine Williams of Other

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Williams.

Hi Christine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My path to becoming a cookie artist was anything but linear. Before starting Cookies del Mundo, I worked in fields ranging from technology and real-estate management to education and literacy tutoring, and each chapter taught me something about problem-solving, patience, creativity, and connecting with people. The business began taking shape in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2016 and officially launched in Austin, TX in 2017 as a small, home-based custom cookie business. What started as a creative outlet gradually became a way to help people tell their own stories through edible art, whether they were celebrating a birthday, welcoming a baby, honoring a milestone, or simply making someone feel special. After building the business in Austin, I relocated Cookies del Mundo to Grand Isle, Vermont, where I now create made-to-order decorated sugar cookies, photo cookies, and personalized designs for customers throughout the local community. Today, I still love the challenge that started it all: taking someone’s idea, personality, or occasion and transforming it into something beautiful, meaningful, and delicious.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been figuring out how to stand out in an industry where customers have an incredible number of choices. There are so many talented cookie decorators and bakers, and social media makes it possible for customers to see beautiful work from around the world every day. I realized fairly early that simply making a beautiful cookie wasn’t enough. I needed to give people a reason to choose my cookies.

Over time, I’ve tried to differentiate Cookies del Mundo by focusing on creativity, customization, quality, and the overall experience. I really enjoy taking an idea that may be very personal or specific to a customer and figuring out how to turn it into a cookie collection that feels completely unique to them. I’ve also learned that standing out doesn’t necessarily mean following every trend. Sometimes it means developing your own style, experimenting, taking a few creative risks, and being willing to do things a little differently.

And honestly, that challenge has probably made the business better. It continually pushes me to learn new techniques, improve my presentation, and think beyond the cookie itself. I don’t ever want Cookies del Mundo to feel like someone is simply ordering a dozen decorated cookies. I want them to feel like they’re getting something thoughtful and personal that was created specifically for their moment.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
A lot of my favorite projects begin with a customer coming to me with an idea, but not necessarily knowing exactly what they want the finished cookies to look like. They’ll give me a theme, an occasion, a color palette, or even just a general feeling they’re trying to capture, and then give me some creative freedom to run with it. I love that process. I’ll suggest designs and different ways we can bring the idea to life, and those collaborations have resulted in some of the most memorable cookies I’ve made.

I think that creativity and collaboration are a big part of what sets Cookies del Mundo apart. I don’t necessarily want someone to come to me knowing exactly what every cookie should look like. Give me the idea and let me play with it. That’s often when something really special happens. I want the finished cookies to feel personal and original, not like something that could have been made for anyone.

But I’m equally proud of the business side of what I’ve built. I’m known for being professional and reliable, and that matters tremendously to me. These cookies are often part of important moments in people’s lives, and my customers need to know that when they place an order with me, I’m going to communicate with them, pay attention to the details, and deliver what I promised. I love the creative side of this business, but I think the combination of creativity, collaboration, professionalism, and reliability is really what defines my work.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love when someone comes to me and says, “I have this crazy idea…” That’s usually the beginning of a really fun project. Bring me a theme, a story, a logo, a color palette, or even just a feeling you want to capture, and give me a little creative freedom to figure out how to turn it into cookies. I’m also very interested in collaborating with local businesses, nonprofits, artists, event planners, and other creative people on projects that are a little unexpected or give me an opportunity to try something new.

And supporting Cookies del Mundo doesn’t necessarily mean ordering cookies. Following or sharing my work, recommending me to a friend, or leaving a review all make a meaningful difference to a small, owner-operated business. Word of mouth has always been incredibly important to me, and there is no better compliment than having someone see my cookies at an event and ask, “Who made these?”

So if you have an idea and you’re wondering, “Could you possibly make that into a cookie?” please ask. Those are usually my favorite conversations.
