Hidden Gems: Meet Janet Nwachukwu of JayNwach Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janet Nwachukwu.

Hi Janet, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always known that I wanted to leave a mark on this earth, but I wasn’t sure how. I knew that God had already ordained and designed my life in a way that other people would look at me and see his works. My steps had already be ordered, I just had to figured out how to follow them.

Growing up and till this day, my body image is something that I’ve struggled with. About three years ago, I had a vision that I would pave the way for other women that struggled with this as well and it just hit me one day. The Fashion Industry. Before launching JayNwach Collection I was working in Corporate America as a Corporate Communications Coordinator and though I loved the creativity of my job, I felt it was hindering me from my full purpose. You can only do so much in Corporate America and at the end of the day, you’re only helping another individual built their own dreams. I have dreams and ambitions of my own and I have an empire to built. I was so busy with my 9-5 that I couldn’t possibly juggle starting my own business. In July of 2020, I left my job for other reasons included and took the leap of faith to start my clothing line.

My clothing line has not only allowed me to pave the way for other women that struggle with body positivity but for all women. It has shaped me into the woman I am today, and though I am still under construction, it has pushed me to be more confident and empowered.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It certainly has not been a smooth journey. Like any new venture, the road is not always clear. The courage to start a business itself is one of the steps to success. The challenges come when managing the business and related things can become a burden.

I think the biggest obstacle I’ve faced is balance. Balancing my day to day tasks as well as my business, my sanity, my mental, and my physical. It’s difficult for me to turn away from my business, unlike a regular job you clock in at one time and clock out at another, with my business I feel I don’t ever shut it off. My clock is consistently going.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
JayNwach is an exclusive online fashion brand. We are more than just a brand, we are a movement. Our mission is to promote self-love and confidence. We want our customers to love themselves in all our pieces.

JayNwach was derived from the CEO (myself) Janet Nwachukwu’s first and last name. She created this brand to pave the way for women of all shapes and sizes. The goal is to inspire women to love themselves, to not only be confident but empowered in everything they wear.

JayNwach Collection offers apparel and accessories for women of all shapes and sizes. What sets JayNwach apart from other brands is our raw ability to cater to women of all sizes and help them build their confidence through our pieces. What I am most proud of is that I built this entire brand alone from scratch.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to be humble and to keep going. Some days I don’t get a single sale, a single like on my posts, but I keep going. I try to be consistent because people are watching.
