Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgia Thompson.
Hi Georgia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a deep interest in and passion for health and wellness, but it’s certainly been a bit of a journey to get to where I am today!
I graduated from Wake Forest University in 2018 and moved to Austin, a city a grew up spending time in and always loved. Unsure of my next step, I accepted a corporate job in technical recruiting that I knew wasn’t my end-all be-all from the get-go. It didn’t take long for me to realize that the corporate world simply wasn’t for me. I knew I wasn’t living up to my full potential.
After six month, I decided to quit my job and return to school, this time a graduate Masters in Business Administration program at St. Edward’s University here in Austin, During my time in grad school, I learned a lot more about myself and my potential. At this time, I likewise took the leap to pursue a few additional things I’d previously been too scared to give a shot. Most notably, I launched my blog, Goodness With G, and Instagram account, @goodness_with_g and I went through Yoga Sculpt teacher training at CorePower Yoga.
As these mediums allowed me to dip my toes into the health and wellness world, I realized that this was truly what brought me joy and lit me up each and every day. I loved getting to connect with like-minded individuals and help others on their own health journeys.
It occurred to me that taking my own business full time was the logical next step, so I decided to enroll in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s health coaching certification program.
Since I graduated in August of 2020, I’ve launched my health coaching programs and have been working with one-on-one clients for almost a year.
To say this work is fulfilling would be an understatement! I look forward to waking up to a job that I genuinely feel aligned with and am deeply passionate about, The fact that I get to positively impact others’ lives is something I feel so grateful for!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not – lots of tears, quarter-life crisis anxiety and discomfort, let me tell you!
I know I’m not alone when I say that figuring things out post-college isn’t always easy. I slogged through a corporate job I didn’t like in the least and had to come to the painful realization that things might not always go according to the linear plan I had previously planned out.
One of the biggest struggles was having to put my ego and perfectionism aside and accepting the fact that I don’t have to have it all figured out right this minute.
I still face challenges daily being my own boss and a small business owner, but I’ve found that when the work aligns with your true self, you’re willing to do what it takes to make it happen.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
