Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey Taylor-Hooks.
Hi Tracey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Voice-over artist and owner of Envision for Independents elevation team. At age 17, I had my first big opportunity to coordinate an entire wedding ceremony and reception! I knew it was my passion then and it remains my passion to this day! For the past 25 years, I have coordinated, planned and produced numerous events including live music events, weddings, and master classes. Envision for Independents supports the Indie musician, author, photographer, actor and filmmakers, the “Creatives”. These are the people seeking elevation and I aim to give it to them. My love for music inspired my move into contributing to Live Music shows across the country and as far as Amsterdam, The Netherlands with Soul/Jazz artist Frank McComb.
I have now taken on the role of A&R Director for SGATV Network, as well as marketing for the Skin I’m In Model and Talent Agency both based in Houston, Texas. The SGATV Network also caters to an all indie community. Skin I’m In Model and Talent Agency serves as a community for diversity.
Envision for Independents believes that the Indies of the world need to be heard more often and we intend to be that vessel of assistance for all that consider themselves “Independent” in the world of entertainment.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No this has not been a smooth road. Because we work with those who are not always well known, marketing and exposure can be a challenge due to limited funding. We are always seeking sponsorships. We have been working hard over the years to build our business along with our sister company Black Diamond Events of Houston. Sometimes support can come from where you least expect it, not always from friends and family. Support comes from those who are watching what you are doing and see your heart and passion for others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Envision For Independents?
Envision provides assistance with promoting live and virtual events. We will assist in setting up ticketed events, flyers, locating venues/clubs and connecting you with videographers, photographers, website design, print companies and more. We understand that there is no big money machine behind most indie artists, therefore we do all that we can to keep costs reasonable. We are here to shine light on artists who otherwise may never be seen. We have opportunities right now for indie artist music to be featured on the new indie television network SGATV Network. Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Entertainment is a forever business. Whether it’s movies, music, or sports, people will always be hungry for entertainment in some shape, form or fashion. With the evolving technology, the way that we view these events may change over the years but the entertainment world will exist.
