Rising Stars: Meet Jenée Saldaña

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenée Saldaña.

Hi Jenée, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Five years ago, a local photographer reached out to me for photoshoot. It was a much needed confidence boost. Soon after this shot, more photographers found me and reached out. I began to do local ads and work with local brands. This unexpected hobby turned into a paying career. I began doing shoots for fashion designers to bridal shoots to workout gear. This past year I had my first national campaign. It’s exciting to see what the future holds as I continue to learn more every shoot I do.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been difficult at times. Modeling is difficult in many ways. I struggle with self-esteem almost every shoot, but doing each has helped me gain confidence. Sometimes I take it hard when I get turned down: not being tall enough, going a different direction, or just being far too nervous in front of the camera.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Latina model in Austin, Texas. I’m most proud of my first national campaign I had this year and the growth I have had throughout the years. I am also proud of the confidence I have found in myself as I express myself in front of the camera.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
When I’m not modeling, I’m working towards social change, trying to advocate for those who need it most. If you don’t see me in front of the camera, I’m probably at the Capitol.
