Today we’d like to introduce you to Yannelle Vidal.
Hi Yannelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am (21 years old), a Licensed Esthetician graduated from Aveda Institute. From High School, I knew college and high studies were never for me. Growing up, I was such a bratty, confident, photogenic, beauty loving girl. Which is why I knew Esthiolgy would be the best suite for me. Everything about Esthiology and the beauty industry is mesmerizing and all the things you can do. I started from being a high school student working full time at H-E-B being dead broke to putting hours in Esthiology school. During my time at Aveda, I started to practice and get certified in the services I wanted to provide. Starting off with lashes was the most impatient and tidious job to be done, but after many hours of patience and practice, I GOT IT DONE!
Eventually, my 650 hours of Esthiology were completed and done! Passed my written and practical within the next three months and became a Licensed Esthetician at (19 years old). From there, I knew I was ready to start out and become my own company, page, suite, etc. which I did! I have been in the beauty industry coming up on two years now. Continuing education, getting certified in Lip Blushing, Microblading, Dermaplanning, Hyluron Pen, and more to come! It has been the best decision of my life and seeing how you can grow is amazing. Me being so young and getting to where I have now, I truly can say I motivate people and encourage people that they CAN DO IT TOO! Eventually, I wanted to bring out my own products lash line and train more individuals on how to lash. Permeant Makeup is on my listing to do next, It is my goal and desire to help others in beauty needs and or financially with trainings.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being where I am at today was definitely not a smooth road. It came with its ups and downs and of course the struggles. For me, you have to spend money in order to get money. I was dead broke trying to afford all the equipment I needed to start lashing. You have to put in all these factors like equipment, rent, bedding, decors, paperwork, etc. in to place and have your financials organized. Not only financially, you have the haters! Growing in the beauty industry has shown me who supports me and who doesn’t. Which is something to be careful of.
Being a Latino entrepreneur is not easy, so with the support of your family, friends, supports etc everything and anything is possible. I’m proud to say I am the first female Latina in my family to own a business NaturallyyNelly and I continue to strive everyday to make my culture proud.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Esthiology, providing Lash Extensions, Permeant Makeup Art and Skincare. I’m known for Lash Extensions, I take pride in my work. I don’t care if I over post or edit too much. It’s the time and thought that you put into your business that matters. I don’t only treat my clients as regular “clients”. We grow a relationship and we become family. What sets me out from others is how consistent I am with my work.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Growing up, I lived in the Hill Country on about 6acres of land. For as long as I can remember, everyday I went out into the woods on our land and just explored. You know when we are young and you fantasize that you’re in a movie? That is exactly what I would do. I was so young and free running through those woods, singing at the top of my lungs. My life was carefree, I would go back to those memories in a heartbeat and just enjoy the time.
