Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Cotten.
Hi Julia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a native Austinite and spent most of my life traveling and exploring the world with my family. Travel has always been a great form of education. I attended a self-paced high school that allowed for more of a creative learning environment that revealed to me that I’m a natural entrepreneur. Finishing high school early at the age of 16, I used the following year to continue traveling and learning before beginning college at St. Edwards. I am a junior pursuing a degree in entrepreneurship and business.
I recently began embarking on growing my social media platform as an influencer and currently continuing to expand with this endeavor. My niche focuses on clean beauty products with my own non-toxic skincare in the works.
Additionally, I love racing cars. I attended the BMW Performance Racing School in South Carolina last summer and will continue to chase my dreams of becoming a professional race car driver.
I believe my well-traveled life taught me to be bold, never follow the 9 to 5 and seek to carve out a path that I want.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Completing college while wanting to build a business has been the biggest struggle. It has taught me patience. It is definitely a lesson I’m learning to deal with on a daily basis. In a world where everything is fast-paced and seemingly instant, I’m reminded that good things take time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I like content creation especially for content in areas I’m passionate about such as clean beauty, skincare products, and fashion. I specialize in social media engagement on Tiktok, lifestyle, fashion, and wellness on Instagram. I’m known for being passionate about skincare, tips & tricks, and life hacks to better improve my skin so that others can benefit from it as well. I’m most proud of being able to travel because it opened my eyes to different styles, cultures, and food that impacted me in a way that I see health and wellness differently than I used to. Traveling and taking time off from college opened my mind to other possibilities which led me to my passion for skincare.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like that Austin always has something to do. I love the food, music scene, culture and the lakes. Least likes that everyone can agree with is the traffic.
