Meet Sydney Torabi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Torabi.

Hi Sydney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story is pretty unique in that I have always been attracted to movement and athletics. Growing up, I did everything from basketball, volleyball, dance to swimming! After a while, I landed on swimming as my sport of choice and took it all the way to the collegiate level where I had the opportunity and pleasure of being on the Women’s Swim Team at The University of Texas. While in undergrad, I studied Nutrition which is where my true love for wellness started (wellness to me = fitness + nutrition + lifestyle). Also while in undergrad, I’d say roughly my junior year, I started working at the local spin studio and started my health and fitness blog, Spinsyddy! This passion for health and fitness continued to grow over the years as I became a certified personal trainer nutritionist and have been an Under Armour athlete for the past three years! Fast forward to today (about seven years later) and I’ve transitioned into a Women’s Health Coach where I show women how to create healthy sustainable lifestyles without dieting or working out for hours a day on end. I consider myself EXTREMELY lucky to be able to coach others and have a business that surrounds my passion for helping women get fit without the extremes and learning to love our bodies for what they do for us!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. With any good things comes struggle and sacrifice but in the end it’s 1000% worth it. I’m still working on myself and my business each day and the biggest struggles have made me who I am. Some of those include switching career paths… prior to health coaching I was on the path to becoming a Dentist! My parents weren’t too fond of the idea in college when I said, “I want to be a full-time coach” since that wasn’t the most pristine job at the time vs a doctor. The pay isn’t glamorous, especially starting out, so it was humbling to be so excited and optimistic about coaching to realize you have to HUSTLE FOR THE MONEY because rent is due and a girls gotta eat! The biggest struggle of all though was taking that chance from a secure cushioned life (if I had gone down the dentistry path) to this somewhat of an unknown. At the time, people weren’t really paying attention to their food choices and women definitely weren’t lifting a ton of weights (myself included), but now there is so much information out there about how food and fitness can really impact our lifestyles!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Women’s Health and Fitness coach that specializes in teaching women how to create sustainable habits that lead them to results like losing weight, getting stronger, and having more energy! I specialize in unconventional training methods to get my girls fit! Meaning no gym membership is needed and no counting calories. My workouts are functional and full-body focused with a heavy emphasis on bodyweight moves — ask any one of my Instagram followers what they love about my workouts and they’ll tell you they’re CHALLENGING and make them feel STRONG (HIIT is my personal favorite style).

I’m most proud of my girls! The community that we’ve built and the results due to my coaching + their hard work have paid off and I couldn’t be happier for all our successes! It takes more than just a coach to get results, it takes motivation and the willingness to work hard from the client.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t really believe in luck. I believe in hard work and you’re presented with the opportunities that you put yourself in front of. There will always be good or bad decisions you make in life and in business, but the bad ones only help you learn more and the good ones keep you flourishing!
